Because it is not even close. You do realize why Cierre has less attempts and yards because he was out for two ****ing games. They barely put him in Michigan State, they work him back too slowly. I like Theo but he has a couple of nice runs and then a bunch of bad runs. Cierre is more consistent, and gains more yards on plays that should be stop. Last year Cierre ran for over a thousand yards, Theo can't say that. Cierre averages a whole yard more than him. Theo has only two good games this year. Cierre needs 15-20 touches a game. IMO
I agree with this.

Yes, Cierre has a better YPC average.

But I'll take a guy who runs hard every play, is extremely versatile, and is one of the best receivers on the team over a guy who has maturity issues and is one dimensional, adding nothing to the passing game.

I'm not saying Theo>Wood. Just that it's ridiculous to say it's not close. Do you realize how crucial Theo's 20 receptions are? When Theo's in in a pass, the defense has to account for him, opening up the middle. Dude has more receptions than our all-American TE.

I think Cierre is so effective because of Theo. Just like Cierre was so effective because of Jonas. He needs that counter punch.

Straw man argument. So you think Cierre does not run hard on every play?

Wood is the best pass protector of all the RBs.

I think it is awesome that we have so much talent that we can have a spirited argument about who is the better back... I'm glad we have Theo and Cierre... but I gotta give Theo credit for not getting himself suspended. I hope they both keep tearing it up.

Cierre is a fine receiver, he caught 27 for 189 yards last year and 20 for 170 in 2010.

And yet people (Buster, looking at you) say 'Cierre's the best back and it's not even close'.

Please.

Theo has more attempts, more yards, more touch downs, and 20 receptions (one reception short of leading the team) for over 160 yards whereas Cierre has a whopping 2 for 9 yards. Theo balls hard every play and is the most underrated player on the team, imo.

Prior to the game against BYU, Theo had put up solid receiving numbers but very pedestrian rushing numbers. Many were legitimately wondering why Theo was getting so many carries when our 2nd and 3rd RBs were producing much better YPC.

Cierre Wood is clearly the best back and he has proven that over 3 years. One great game by Riddick won't erase 3 very good years from Wood. Wood did great against BYU as well. 114 yards on 18 carries with some strong runs. He just didn't break a big one like Riddick did.

He has an outside shot at 1,000 yards.

Needs 475 yards. If he can manage 100+ over the next three games, I think he could get there.

By the way, his YPC average is up to 4.6.

It is hard to tell with the teams we have coming up we could see alot of rushing yards piled up.

My favorite offensive player this year.

Whether successful or not, he gives 110% every play.

Will miss his effort and attitude when he graduates...

This. We played 5 of the top 20 scoring defenses in our first 8 games, including some top run defenses. In our next three games, we play some of the worst run Ds, so expect some Miami-like performances from our ground attack.

There's no reason we shouldn't put up Oregon-like rushing numbers in these games.

I agree. We could put up close to 400 again on Boston College.

It should be noted that although Pitt has the 42nd-ranked run D, they've only played two teams that are ranked in the Top 50 in rushing. One is Cincinnati, who racked up 259 yards on the ground against Pitt, and the other is Buffalo who has played a MAC schedule.

Ouch that could get pretty ugly early.

So Chicago would cut Armando for the next ND shifty back? Don't see them keeping both if that's where he were to go.

What do we think about his draft stock after tonight? I could see him being a 3rd-4th rounder

1 game wouldn't change that much and I would be hesitant to take him that early. He runs hard but he doesn't have breakaway speed and he won't be able to get all the YAC in the pros.
