I'm pretty sure he has been quoted as such. I remember reading somewhere that he was concerned, and talked to Weis about it. Is he afraid of competing or is he afraid of competing with his brother? If it is the former, then ND has a better chance because OSU's depth at safety is tremendous. If the latter, then OSU's the favorite here.

Thanks Domer3. I know I have read this on several boards, but I've never seen anything that suggested he actually said this. you know how rumors get started on one board, and since there are many of us who read several, some info spills over and spreads. Still seems a bit goofy that he wouldn't want to compete with his brother.

It sounds like it is a smaller issue than its made out to be, or like it sounds when you first hear it, so keep that in mind. From what I've read, it doesn't sound like a deciding factor for Dan.

I remember reading things like that earlier in his recruitment, and in more recent months I've heard next to nothing about it being an issue, particularly since he's talked with the coaching staff more. My guess is Weis & Co. addressed that issue, but it is just a guess.

I've heard some mixed things about his interests. I know Buckeye fans that are convinced he's ND bound, and I've heard Domer fans that feel he's OSU's to lose. It would be funny if he picked a school like LSU, and fooled most everyone.

-----------This is an Irish board, and i've seen all the OSU boards on McCarthy threads talking down Weis' weight and bowl wins and how McCarthy wants to play for OSU. You seem to be someone who lets emotions overly influence your opinions. Whether it be Ohio State (topic), Urban Meyer (you said he is a bad evaluator of talent) or a recruit that ND offered, but doesn't verbal there (Sweat thread). I am sure I can find other posts as well.

You said you see OSU boards say McCarthy favors OSU. Which ones? Scout? They are a bunch of people who have no other place to voice an opinion (ND's scout board is way worse btw, and there is nothing called free speech there. I posted something, don't remember what, last year, and the moderators PM'd me saying "We aren't interested in outside opinion". There are more deleted posts than there are readable posts). Besides, most fan bases think wishes were horses, and will think any recruit they've offered will come to play for them. The only objective buckeye board I know of is BP. Here is BP's McCarthy's thread. Look at one of the last few posts.

The board is pretty divided on where he'll end up. This is where I got info about Sweat's decision, and believe it or not, though I didn't post on Zordich's thread at that time, most people in there were saying he going to PSU. And just to clarify, I myself think McCarthy is a 70% ND lean.

Most of the discussions on Scout and Rivals suck because they are full of trolls. Plenty of supporters of other teams that have nothing better to do in their useless life than to try to start arguments and false rumors on opposition team sites. These trolls ruin everything.

So I ran across Irish Envy site last year. Finally, a site where NOTRE DAME fans can come together, congregate, and have an honest discussion about Notre Dame without many of the distractions. Its been nice so far.

Now, if anyone here has ever been to "Buckeye Planet" (seriously doubting many of you have), you would not see my name there posting information and slanted views about the direction of future recruits (only those that ND has an interest in). So why is it that Ant80 desires to come around here and do the same. Inquiring minds want to know. Truth be told, he has not yet stepped on too many toes or been out of line. However, the troll potential is there. I, for one, hope you wander on back to BP and hang out with those of equal intelligence as yourself. Just seeing that OSU logo makes me gag. Check your schedule, Notre Dame is not on it. You'd rather play the Kent State, Cincinnati, and San Diego State's of the world.

I don't get your point. In fact, I am not even sure you have one.

First off, this is a public message board. There are no rules restricting entry based on affiliation. Secondly, I am a buckeye fan, and a college football fan. I enjoy following the game and like to hear other people's opinions. I post here, on an Alabama forum, Michigan forum, and anywhere I WANT TO. I respect other people's opinions, but don't take **** when it is handed to me. And I also contribute what I can when I can (case in point being my painstaking tally of ND's class breakdown posted on the main recruiting board, which I eventually had to take down).

By your own admission, you haven't visited BP. Those who have, often come to the conclusion that they are the most informed cfb recruiting board. I am simply contributing by taking that information, for some recruits whom both ND and tOSU are pursuing, and posting that in here. If you read carefully, I did mention that I think ND gets McCarthy, so you can't even accuse me of "posting slanted views" of recruits.

Now I was responding to Irishknight's post, and I gave specific reasons for my comments. Your statements do not bear any relevance and seem to be said out of spite because of my single OSU logo that makes you "gag". What I find hilarious is that even your comments suggest that I have being polite around here. Considering that, your "troll potential" doesn't hold much water. Now I don't know what your pet hate issue is with OSU and OSU fans, but let it just be said that I don't care. The story going around here in the Cardinal Mooney circles is that, when Charlie made a visit to the school, he left some bad impressions with the staff and the some of the faculty of the school. It's all the hub-bub around here that Charlie is kind of a "so and so", which is certainly surprising considering the strong love that ND gets around here.

Just passing it along. I graduated from Cardinal Mooney (Kyle and Danny's school), my cousin is best friends with Kyle, and I know that whole situation pretty well. Take it for what it is. Not trying to stir the pot or anything, just saying that Charlie's personality can rub people the wrong way.

I don't know if it had any effect on Danny's recruitment, but this incident was recently when he came to visit him. I guess he was really pushing the coaching staff at Mooney as to why this wasn't over yet. I dunno, just what I hear.

How many safeties will we take? Is Jamoris Slaughter our preference? I think we can only afford to take 1 safety and leave one out there in case Will Hill wants to be Irish. Leaving one for Will would force something like not giving a 5th year or a transfer, should he decide to come. I think whoever commits first between Slaughter and McCarthy is it. What say you?

Both Slaughter & Blanton are being recruited as CB's. McCarthy is the only current offer that ND has a shot at who is being recruited as a Safety.

OK then. I like Slaughter too much to only take Blanton. I would rather have McCarthy, Blanton and Slaughter than take another NT, even if it were Forston. We have Newman and Hunter at NT, Cwynar and Williams at DT, lets take a DT/DE like Johnson, Aghayere, Lewis-Moore.

S - McCarthy (Hill)
ILB - Filer (Brown)
DE/DT - 1 of (Johnson, Aghayere, Lewis-Moore)

McCarthy is now listing OSU, Stanford, scUM, PSU and ND as his current favorites with BC as a possibility depending upon how a planned summer visit goes. The favorites are not listed in order but the general opinion seems to be that it is between the Irish, Stanford, and OSU, with BC a potential player. McCarthy is planning on going to camps at OSU and scUM in the next two weeks, and finish off the month at ND's second 4 day camp starting on June 23.

Danny may be going to Michigan and OSU to make sure they are not the place for him, but it now seems very unlikely that he would make a decision after the ND visit, as it seems certain that he is going to visit BC after he visits ND. There is also a rumor going around that McCarthy is concerned about the potential committments of Blanton and Slaughter even though CB has made it clear that he is recruiting both of those guys for CB. By the time the ND camp begins on 6/23, Danny will hopefully know about Blanton's decision, but who knows for sure when Slaughter will decide.

No doubt about that IK, and there is no way of knowing whether the fear rumors are true, I kind of doubt it myself, but when you are consistenly hearing worries about this, worries about that, that is usually a sign that someone is looking for an excuse not to pull the trigger.

That's what worries me.

I definitely agree with that. Worries tend to end up being a recruit buying themselves enough time to convince themselves not to goto a certain school.
