If he can recover and stay healthy he should make the 49ers 2 deep at any of the 4 lb spots.

Bad news.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%2349ers&src=hash">#49ers</a> LB Darius Fleming appeared to suffer serious injury to left knee during practice. He tore ACL in same knee and missed 2012.</p>— Eric Branch (@Eric_Branch) <a href="https://twitter.com/Eric_Branch/statuses/361632755836137473">July 28, 2013</a></blockquote>

Will be out for the entire season, and will have to catch on with a team in the spring, and he's got some pretty good odds going against him.

However, he's pocketed some good dough ($431,000 in 2012 [390,000 base + $41,200 bonus] and the rest of his guaranteed money by waiving him [$123,600]), so if he spent that wisely he'll have good amount of money still left in case he can't catch on anywhere, and having that ND degree now to fall back is a HUGE bonus, especially since it came from Mendoza School of Business (management-consulting).

Best of luck wherever you end up, Darius! Hope you can recover!

Got the start tonight for the Pats (due to injuries) and played very well. Played literally the whole game at OLB and looked really good out there. 6 tackles, 3 solo.

Playing well tonight and getting a lot of love from the local TV people, who are 'insiders' with the Patriots (as is typical in these preseason broadcasts).

Boston Globe predicted him to make the Week 1 roster as of a week ago. I know he's been getting a lot of PT on special teams which is huge.

He played against the KC Chiefs with 22 stitches in his right leg, cut himself kicking out a burning car window to save a woman

Can't believe nobody posted this.... Notre Dame Man?

Darius Fleming, Hero: Patriots Linebacker Saved a Woman from a Burning Car Last Week - Pats Pulpit

It's an understatement to say we are proud of New England Patriot Darius Fleming, St. Rita Class of 2008. Darius stepped up to play a key role at Linebacker in the Patriots' playoff win over the weekend, but two days earlier made an even bigger impact.

He helped save a woman from a burning vehicle by kicking through her car window to help her escape. In doing so, he suffered a cut to his leg that required 22 stitches to close.

On and off the field, Ritamen like Darius do great things. Keep up the great work, Darius, & thank you for your courage.

First Darius, now Jamie Foxx. Heroes a plenty these days!

But seriously, what an incredible thing to do!

He played maybe the most snaps of the season at LB for him also due to injuries, and was pretty solid. Very impressive story and effort last week against the Chiefs.
