Northwestern and Illinois are also in pursuit.

As defensive prospects go in our state, Fleming is right up there with Filer.

Is this kid really a defensive lineman? 6'1" and only 210 pounds? Seems more like a safety from his size.

yea, that sounds a lot more like it. much more ideal numbers for a dominating DE. I certainly hope he comes to ND cuz Lord knows we need all the help we can get

He listed his favorite college growing up as Notre Dame in his profile on Edgy Tim.

A lot of buzz about him going around Chicago.

Got an Illinois offer earlier this week after having visited Iowa's Junior Day last weekend.

Fleming has an offer from Northwestern.

Safe to say admissions at ND should not be an issue?

Got an Illinois offer earlier this week after having visited Iowa's Junior Day last weekend.

Did the offer state?

"I'm building my offense around you....."

follow-up letter:
"Ooops, of course I meant defense. Oh, and would you please send that earlier letter to Robert Hughes. And if you have any white-out, could you please change the name on the offer to his. Oh, and can you change the year on his offer to 2007. Gosh, this is really embarrassing."

On a serious note; one of a number of great prospects out of Chicago/Illinois. Lot of good things are going to be said about Mr. Fleming before NSD 2008. Here's hoping that Coach Brown really connects with these guys in Illinois.

He received his offer this weekend according to Scout.

Rivals also now lists Fleming as an offer. Fleming said that he really enjoyed his visit to ND, that it was better than he expected. He was able to sit with CW after the visit, and that is when he was offered his scholarship. Darius's final comment was that it's a great offer and he is really excited about Notre Dame. As are all Irish fans excited that Darius is seriously considering ND.

I think when its all said and done he'll be IRISH. The kid will be a 4 or 5 star LB and that's what I love about him and from our backyard (Chicago). Yep I want him.

new article on scout about Fleming, sounds like he is very interested in Michigan too. He lists his favorites as Michigan, ND, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I don't know about this one, if he "grew up" a ND fan he doesn't sound all that ND lean.

Another rumor from the same source as the Filer rumor says that Darius will commit to ND in the next two to three weeks. We will check back in two to three weeks to see if any of this info is reliable, but there has been a lot of buzz lately that Fleming is now a very strong ND lean.

on the scout broad Mike Frank thinks that he could be one the the next prospects that could commit.
"hard to say for sure. I'd say Kyle Rudolph, Darius Fleming and Anthony McDonald are the most likely. McDonald is visiting on the 11th of April. Very good chance he could commit then."

Mike

I really hope he (Fleming) does commit. I think he would be a perfect tweener for the 3-4.

The header on the Scout/Irish Eyes article of 3/13 merely said that he wants to see more schools, I did not see anything in that header about him liking Michigan a lot. Now if you are talking about the 3/14 article posted on Scout that was written by GoBlueWolverine where the headline says "Cali. DE Fleming Lists Michigan High", this just goes to show you what idiots the GoBlue people are since he is from Chicago. Also, if you read the article, (it happens to be free right now, go to link) all Fleming says about Michigan is that it is one of his favorites along with ND, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The header is purposefully misleading as Fleming hardly showered any effusive praise on Michigan. In any case, I would take Mike Frank's opinion on this subject before any GoBlue writers, as he is much less a homer than the GBW crowd.

Darius Fleming Recruiting process

Darius Fleming Recruiting process

This young man is very good but Brett Nagel appears to have better stats. Is there any reason why ND haven't given Nagel an offer?
