  • I pray that we will see vocations in our respective families, Whiskey. Without the religious, we face a much harder battle.
I find it disheartening you assume a large provided-for population with no economic constraints would necessarily devolve into hedonism. While I'm sure some would enjoy for a brief time, I would hope that the physical being assured would leave people more time for introspection.
I have not. I'm not actually sure that there are any in Austin, but a few priests I know (now studying in Rome) were influenced by C&L and their talks about it have been very intriguing.

We are trying. Its been a slow process and my wife was raised Protestant so there is some definite tension from her side of the family and her adjustment to the philosphy and liturgy have been eyeopening for her. I have found a very good parish and the Father has been very gracious.
The image you repped might be my favorite image on the whole internet. Never fails to make me laugh for some reason.

Absolutely. I would love it. We should make it happen.
    Whiskey,

I know you're very busy, but on the off chance that you merely forgot to reply in the Foreign Policy thread to my questions on how we can reverse the course, I just wanted to remind you that I am eagerly awaiting your response. I will take it in any format you so choose, but I value your counsel highly and cannot wait to hear your ideas. As always, book recommendations are welcome.
Thanks very much, Whiskey. I came here just to hang out a bit and get a feel for what you guys expected before our NC game, but ended up growing to love this place and feel like part of the gang. Lots of good, intelligent people and the discussions are great.
Having just discovered "User CP", I wanted to thank you for your trackback messages - and for your links which are always thought-provoking.
There is a possibility that I'm capable of a "told ya so" or a "the good guys won" or two come November. No promises :)
It certainly is true in my case. I'm still trying to form my conscience and mind after neglecting it for years. Do you have suggestions to sharpen my mind/wit? I'm still on the Everlasting Man, so I know that Chesterton helps.
Right back at ya. I'm not the immovable stone I sometimes come across as. I feel like it's about common sense and fairness -- granted my view of those concepts may be a bit left of some.

I bet you are an impressive attorney -- you can be quite persuasive. :)
