There’s also a good chance Carr comes back. depends how the season unfolds. Also it’s a very deep QB class

Google says Champ is 16 (born January 26 2010). If he's an EE, he can be apart of playoff prep before he turns 17. I think it's possible to see him around til '29 (his junior year) when he'll be 19yrs old...the age some guys are as true freshman.

Watching 2 minutes of his Sophomore film was enough. Now it's getting confirmed in real time. They better fix his ranking quickly or they're going to look dumb.

Not sure why people think ND will go to the portal next year. You guys do realize everyone starts out with "no experience" like CJ Carr did last year. Freeman has already stated that he does not want to get a one year rental. Guess what, after 2027, they will still have no one with experience.

People who think ND will go to the portal for QB just aren't paying attention. They are the same people who thought ND would get a "backup" QB this year from the portal.

I believe Marcus Freeman will do what he believes gives ND the best chance to win games.

That could be a SO Grubbs, SO Jarrard or FR Monds. It could also be a transfer. To act like that decision is set in stone before any of the 3 have put on a ND jersey is idiotic.

Here is his most recent quote on the transfer portal with regards to QB:

“If from now until December you did not feel like you have a future starting quarterback in the program, you have to. I have a strong conviction, and I started that last year, that we’ve recruited well enough that our next starting quarterback, which could be this year if something happens to CJ, is right here in this program. I have a strong conviction of that. But you’ve got to get through the season and evaluate. Do we believe the future starting quarterback is here in this program? I do. I say this right now: I have a strong conviction. You’ll add Teddy in June. You’ll put these guys in game-like situations, see how they perform. Again, I want to continue to major in developing our quarterbacks in-house and not having to go get a transfer portal quarterback. But I’ve still got to make decisions that we believe is best for the program.”

I think the issue is the circumstances of other QB's that could be on the roster:

Teddy is a reclass and would be a true freshman next year instead of a 2nd year player. Even with his age, it is still a year less of HS reps. Monds is a reclass and should be a HS Senior next year rather than a true freshman. There are varying opinions on Grubbs and his ceiling among reputable ND media. I haven't seen a ton of raving reviews of Hebert.

Nah. Not sure if agree with this. No need for him to run it back if ND takes it all. I actually believe that the coaches would advise him not to make such a decision

No need. He will have nothing left to prove. If CJ performs like every one expects him to. Let that man go get his money. Honestly. If he tries to make that decision. I'd be disappointed.

His father (Mario Monds) was a DT at Cincinnati and played in the NFL. His grandfather, Wonderful Monds, was a defensive back that also played in the NFL. Quite the bloodlines for this young man.
There was an OF for the Braves in the late 90s named Wonderful Terrific Monds. They have to be related

All the recent data shows that the more reps at the college level, the more success at the NFL level. Even if we play the max games, it is still under 30 career starts. Also, Carr will have all the intel he needs about his draft status. I think his decision will be incredibly informed. Also, if Andrew Luck can stay for 4 years...then anyone can

Um...because Freeman did it back to back years when he thought it would give him the best chance of winning? And went to the national championship game with one of those guys?

IDK. Zero chance any of Kenny’s credits would be accepted from Lexington Community College.
Kenny already spent six semesters at Notre Dame, plus summers. Gotta be close to graduating even without whatever classes he's taking at Kentucky.

I dunno if it could ever happen but it's a nice option to think about. We'll have a variety of good options, including a Brinks truck deliverys to the Carr residence.

It looks to me like Monds is elite+. Is he firm in his commitment and what are the schools that are trying, or are going to try to flip him?

lets look at his original options... Pyne and Buchner.

He brought in Grubbs and Teddy early for a reason. I will enjoy looking back at this thread just like I did when people were clamoring for a "backup QB with experience" this year.

You're moving the goalposts now. You said "people who think ND will go to the Portal for a QB aren't paying attention." ND has done just that under Freeman.

Is it guaranteed? No, nothing is. But if Freeman doesn't think Teddy or Grubb is ready, he will absolutely pursue a QB this offseason.
