Bears need DL help badly. They have no pass rush.

The QB situation is in place. That's nice. Ben Johnson lives on the edge a bit too much for my blood, but that's football 2026 and offensive play calling. Moneyball says go for it on fourth down, field goal points be damned.

Disappointing end, but an overall fantastic ride. This town comes alive when this team is good. Beyond fun.

That final interception was on DJ Moore as much as it was on Caleb Williams. Perhaps even more so. Feel silly saying it as the majority here know a lot of football. Collinsworth even pointed it out afterward on the replay. It was called a "miscommunication" in the post game.

Ideally, on these big fourth down plays (Packers last week, Rams last night), QB should be able to stand in the pocket and make the play. Both times, Williams had to improvise and make plays via improvisation. I don't know how that sustains itself in the long term. I don't think it does. The play calling on these fourth downs probably needs to improve, otherwise the execution has to be perfect. The plays take too long to develop while most other teams in the league are firing the ball out quickly and making high completion % plays.

Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams both have to get better for this team to win a Super Bowl. Very simple. Williams

Chase Daniel had a really good breakdown of that last play. I’ll post it below. In real time I even thought Moore had pretty obviously run his route too deep, as there was a ton of open space at around the 30. The DB had him leveraged at that depth so it didn’t make sense to think that Williams just thought Moore would simply “speed up” to go get the ball.

Bears have a pretty solid squad on both sides for the first time in a while. If they can upgrade their front seven a bit and continue to invest in the OL, they could be challengers for years to come. It feels like they finally got QB right.

Very exciting times for the Bears. This will hopefully end up as one of the weaker supporting casts for Williams.

It’s so exciting because “making the easy layups” should definitely be something the guy can learn. Layer those amazing throws in with him and now you’ve got a stew going.

The guy has “best in NFL” potential.

The Bears only have $4M in cap space. Some people are going to have to be traded (Moore, Edwards) and some are going to have to restructure their contracts (Cole Kmet).

The Falcons hiring Matt Ryan and Kevin Stefanski means Assistant GM Ian Cunningham is probably staying. That definitely helps to have him around for at least one more year.

Pretty likely DJ Moore was playing with a concussion. Hard to blame a guy who asked to come out of the game pointing at his head only to be inserted back into the game 5 minutes later and immediately take another blow to the head. I guess its on him that he kept playing, but being "off" on that final INT probably has a simple explanation.

The group of people still doubting or nitpicking Caleb Williams are never going to be convinced, no matter what he does. The guy clearly has it—the poise, the creativity, the clutch gene. And just when you think he’s already proven enough, he goes out and does it again. At some point you’re not evaluating anymore, you’re just refusing to accept reality.

This was my second watched Bears game so sample size is small, but Williams doesn’t have to leave the pocket, he regularly chooses to throw on the run, not planting his feet and making accurate throws. I mean the guy is barely a 50% completion guy. Has QB play in the NFL gotten so bad that passes a good, even talented?

A quick check shows he and Cam Ward are the only sub 60% pass completion qb’s with at least 250 attempts this season. I’d say that puts you towards the bottom of quality in the league.

He doesn’t seem to respect the value of short passes when emotions were high. Always looking for a home run instead of a first down. I really felt LA had a better game plan and better talent.

Agreed. There is real talent there and obvious room for improvement. The biases I have about him at this point are from someone who is both a Notre Dame fan and Bears fan but someone who also looks at what we're seeing now and says "This is better than what we're used to, yes, but it isn't sustainable. It has to improve and be more consistent. Right now, though, it's pretty damn good."

I'd say the same things as it relates to the attacks on him as a person and as a teammate. People are going to marinate in their own juice and keep doubling down on it. That's how discourse works today, and there are even more important matters at hand when it comes to these discussions.

McDermott fired. Very curious who they target. Gotta think everybody will want that job with Allen in his prime. Just stay the fuck away from Marcus

There’s a whole lot of jobs out there and not a ton of quality names. If I’m Harbaugh maybe I wait a second before inking with the Giants to see what the Bills might offer.

The Titans have second interviews scheduled with Matt Nagy and Jeff Hafley this week. My gut says Nagy gets this job in the end.

Klint Kubiak and Mike LaFleur's names are coming up a lot. You would suspect the Bills are going to be asking interview questions about Josh Allen and whoever the coach is will need to have a vision for the offense and what it looks like with or maybe even without him.

Texans will probably start looking for Stroud's replacement after that stinker.

Is it me or as good as Brady is as an OC and specifically a good developer of Allen as a QB, it just seems that Josh still misses clutch throws - at least 2 in the playoff game this w/e - that are ones that would have given the Bills the victory in key games this year.
This is a fair narrative but also in the last 3 playoff exits, the Bills WR/TE had the ball in their hands to win the game and dropped it. This roster is crap. Its been crap for about 3 years. Beane can't hit on a draft pick in the 3 rounds. I heard a stat that in 57 picks, only 2 have made a pro bowl or something (Allen and Cook). We joke in Buffalo that we should trade our first 3 rounds every year because we get absolutely nothing out of those picks but hit decently on the 4th-7th. Brandon Beane said we don't have a WR problem earlier this year. Yet here we are. We are shopping down 1 year contract rentals, guys who are older and on the back end or guys who were hurt and been journeyman because our cap is an albatross.

Joe Brady should not be the head coach. I'd argue he's been in Josh's ear for awhile now and hasn't been able to find the next gear. Find someone new.

I feel like Joe Brady is living off of the time he spent with the Saints under Sean Payton and being on the 2019 LSU staff. I really don't understand what he's accomplished since then that makes him a commodity.

Joe Brady is a good OC and play caller. Some dumb shit in crucial parts of a game but the talent he was working with was sub par. For years since 13 seconds, all we heard from the GM was that we need YAC, players who can separate. Literally drafted Coleman because of his straight line speed/control in gauntlet drill during the combine because that would translate to efficient route running. Nope. We moved up for Kincaid because he's a WR in a TE body, the next Kelce. Nope. Lastly I think part of it is that McDermott wanted a more run focused offense because it was the same under Dorsey as it was Brady.

Also took 40 mins to mention Marcus Freeman on radio as a strong candidate lol. It was shot down though, so no worries

I cannot fathom why any top tier college coach would make the jump to the league at this point. The leash for these NFL coaches are shorter than Peter Dinklage in a limbo contest.

Between 2018 and 2023, every AP COTY winner was fired after winning the award. And now McDermott, who won the Maxwell COTY award last year is out.

If I'm Marcus Freeman, I'm staying put. NFL teams are out of their mind right now with how quick they're giving coaches the axe, even good ones.

NFL pressure is better than kissing booster and university higher-up ass just to shake enough money out of the tree so you can turn around and negotiate with teenagers, their parents, handlers, and agents.
