Better teams (ie teams for which the money from one high profile game doesn’t matter) don’t want to schedule us and are correct because of this shittty ass playoff system.
Exactly. SEC and Big Ten schools are not going to cave in and schedule more games with us than they already have. They only have to play the school for the deaf and blind, and they're in the playoffs, because the CFP committee does not care at all about SOS.

My fear is that the playoff system isn't sufficiently rewarding good scheduling vs bad scheduling. And if that holds, ND will have some difficulty finding games.

BYU should be a regular opponent. In a world with NIL they are going to be able to spend and should be typically a 8-10 win team. Also the religious aspect obviously makes it fun as well.

I have always thought have BYU and ND play annually in Vegas and call it the "Spirit Bowl" or something like that; or BYU has Vegas be their home game every other year.

I live downtown SLC, it's.... fine. As far as bars, it really depends on what you are looking for.

Utah County is terrible if you are looking for non-wholesome fun. Bring your kids there or go into the mountains.
Yeah i've stayed downtown a few times. I'm not looking to do anything crazy.

Most likely I'll see weather leading up and if I golf while there, or not go.

It was a bit of an impulse booking (completely refundable), but not sure i'm too excited now. I typically enjoy going to new stadiums/campuses of good teams i haven't been, but I enjoy seeing their downtown the night before, tailgating the day off. It's sunk in now how much that just is NOT BYU lol.

ND always ended every other season at USC...decent weather and CA recruiting. If that date is still available, find opponent in southern CA (UCLA or SDSU?), FL (USF?), or LA (Tulane in NO?), or AZ. Don't want to play in Provo at end of November.

Their stadium seats 62k. I think they should want to play in their own stadium. Now if the teams wanted to play every 3rd year in Vegas or something I would not be opposed to that I guess but football really should be played at one of the team's stadiums. Neutral site football is really suboptimal generally speaking.

No, respectfully, it's not that, pump. We deserve a revenge tour. We have earned the opportunity. Accomplish that. Let the dust settle. Then negotiate from a place of higher ground. We'll see it more clearly from that vantage point what works best for us. Not what works best for the Big Ten or any of these other conferences.
This is basically fanfiction, with a bonus prequel meme.

I hate superconferences. I also hate not playing historic rivals. I hate not playing historic rivals more than I hate superconferences.

Meh, I only really hate not playing USC and that's only happening because Riley's a bitch and Cohen is incompetent.

Purdue and Sparty can be sprinkled in whenever. Fuck michigan.

Not really seeing the problem with playing in Utah. Beats playing chuds the last game of the year

Words can not express my utter disdain for super conferences and the CFP. They are ruining the greatest sport on earth.
It seems like that is NDs attitude - are there any other big footballs schools that agree with this or seem to agree with it?

For a bit in the 80s before Stanford became a thing, we'd end the season at Miami in the non-USC years. That'd be fine.

ND is (or has been) one of the leaders of the discussion to make it happen, per Godfrey/Dellenger/Staples pod.

What is changing in 2030 that is being mentioned?

B1G media rights deal expires then.

Prob touch off new rounds of realignment.

ACC: Penalty for breaking the GOR drops after 2029 - 2030 season to a palatable amount.

ND: TV deal ends at end of 2029 - 2030 season.

Big Ten: TV deal ends at end of 2029 - 2030 season.

SEC: TV deal ends at end of 2033 - 2034 season.

Big 12: TV deal ends at end of 2030 - 2031 season.

CFP: TV deal ends at end of 2031 - 2032 season.

ESPN story just up says the BYU game fills our 2026 schedule. I’m only seeing 11 games (4 ACC) although Sampson has mentioned Stanford and Boston College. Anyone know what the 11th game is?

Looking at next year's schedule, where would we end the season? The as-yet-unscheduled games are:

SMU at home
Stanford at home
@Syracuse
@BYU

We haven't played a home game on Thanksgiving weekend in like 50 years. That leaves BYU or... at Syracuse? They do play in a dome, but yeesh.

Legally? Not a chance.

They have rules about fornication, no way drinking is ever "allowed" on BYU's campus.
Going to the game in Provo. Walking up to the first law enforcement I see and I will say,” I came all the way from PA to chew some bubble gum, get stupid hammered drunk on these university grounds, and I’m going to fornicate like it’s nobody’s business and do things that would make a blind man blush And I’m fresh out of bubble gum.”

The idea that they wanted to avoid a late loss but not an early loss makes no sense. Evidence: ND lost in Week 1 and 2 and JUST got left out.

It’s a convenient thing they are just throwing out there to cast any of the blame if possible on ND. If true that an agreement was imminent for Thanksgiving, even further proof.

Bevacqua should air the dirty laundry, because its very obvious that they nuked negotiations with some ask over the last month that made this impossible. We're being way way too nice with messaging here.
