This is taken from a South Bend Tribune article from when he first arrived. Hopefully ND did as the article states and let the NCAA sort out his eligibility.

Rendell is cleared to play (and punt) for Notre Dame in 2024. He has one year of eligibility — for now. Rendell earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He might have two years. He may have as many as three, but that mess is for the NCAA to clean up, and we know how that goes.

“Technically, I guess I’m a graduate freshman, if that makes sense,” Rendell said. “I’ve been trying to pursue a college football career for quite some time now but was ultimately prevented from coming over to the U.S. due to circumstances that were out of my control.”

I didn’t see Rendell mentioned any where and he is hardly the only Aussie punter in college ball.

Yeah it mentions ND so Rendell by extension but it’s hardly targeted at him

Feels like some local reporter who had a source at one of those Kicking/Punting Academies that was probably mad the Aussies are taking schollys away from their business

Sounds like a great opportunity to do what all other big time schools do to the NCAA, and tell them to fuck off.

Uh oh...

nah ProKick has been around for ages i doubt there is a D1 program around worth its salt that has not had an Aussie Punter from them on their books at one point.

I know Leader Kicking works with a third party who makes sure their guys are academically qualified and their visas are above board etc. If these reports are true about ProKick they can obviously shift the blame on whichever party was doing the same for them

It mentions 4 Texas schools too, but only that they have Australian punters on their teams and is only referencing those teams as examples of the influx of Aussie punters. No where does elude that those punters specifically are cheating.

Is this the version of the sim where Michigan walks free and we get slammed for having a kicker when an accent?

OSU also has a Prokick Australia punter. So does UGA. And Florida.

Hold up...

"Sources say the fault does not lie with the players themselves but with the companies representing them, and the college coaches accepting them without proper independent verification by the University themselves."

Does this sound like the Notre Dame admissions cabal?

So, ND needs a punter.

Out of eligibility. Best wishes, dude.

Man, what is "eligibility?" Seems like language from a bygone era.

Dude got to rest his leg most of the year, but was an absolute dynamite punter this season. Correct me if I’m wrong but I dont think he had a single touchback

Improved quite a bit from last year and didn't notice him nearly as much this year. Granted he only punted 25 times all year

Could his replacement already be on the roster? Erik Schmidt was rated the No. 1 punter in the country coming out of high school.

If so, let's hope that he's a helluva a lot better as a punter than a kicker!
