  • Dude, you've been on a role lately. I can't even rep you right now because you've been killing the jokes.
Oh, you're damn straight that was a humblebrag. Finally got a civilized theater here and I'm taking advantage.

The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.

    - Neil deGrasse Tyson's response on Reddit when asked "What can you tell a young man looking for motivation in life itself?"

Well when one lives under this philosophy, I can understand why he would say that. Seems like that is all he needs in order to do what it is he loves. I can see how people could find that view displeasing when it is not as readily apparent.

Btw you should totally post that. Time to dust that thread off.

I definitely have never read anything from you which I perceived to be out of line or ill tempered (unlike myself lol), so keep doing what you are doing. I also thought we had some great exchanges in several threads.

I don't either. I just wish there more people willing to see the positives of each and more forward together. Build instead of break, you know?

Hope you and yours have a great Spring Game weekend. Go Irish!
Hey, thanks for reps. I've been a fan of that team for a long, long time and I'm lovin' this run they've been on.

Hey, great job on the 'One Foot Down' podcast! Just checked it out and you were incredibly thorough.

"Most of my job"... "Unintended consequences". Sorry for the typos.

Nice. Yeah he beat me by about an average of 47 astronomical units. Never underestimate the ability of a child to pull something out like that.

Thanks for the rep, and the picture of you laughing and spilling; almost! It came to me in a moment of clarity. Does that count as an epiphany? Have a great weekend!

We are a lot alike. The only way to tell us apart is that you are much better looking, smarter, more sober, rational, sane, smell better, and are wittier. Other than that we are probably so much alike that people would have a hard time telling us apart. How tall are you? Just kidding! Soul is for sharing!

I just checked your interest, very close : "Irish Whiskey, deer slugs, and the problems they cure!"

The last one on suffering discusses every issue that has been brought up. Although you or I may not like this guys conclusions, he frames the shift of the retribution theory in terms that we can all understand, and deals with the paradox of some of the ontological arguments quite nicely. (With and in opposition to the teleological, as well.)

Thanks. I am a major fence-sitter on that topic. I look at both sides and see how beautiful they are and am just in awe mostly.
thanks Whiskey. Appreciate the reps and kind words ... and yes, I was most definately joking.

I would never let anyone in on whether I knew or not, it would blow my chance at most interesting poster. Most interesting poster is kind of like when your kid brings the molded clay sculpture home and you want to ask what it is. Instead you often say, "This is interesting!"
Dude, you passed me up for highest post count out of a 2011 joining member. I used to have a killer post per day number. How you didn't just catch up but surpassed me by 500+ posts is incredible. Man have I dropped off or what!

Any word on ISD intel today? Someone I know said it was going to be good.
