Remember it well. Gas was also about $0.22 a gallon. Two bucks and you could drive for a week.

I will take it! Hey, remember when you could eat (well) at Mickey-D's for like 75 cents. The food tasted better, and you could get all the calorie laden trimmings for under a buck! Kids laugh when I talk about going to McDonalds, walking up to the window, (no inside seating), getting fish sandwiches, fries, and chocolate shakes for less than $4.00, and sitting in the car eating them in the parking lot with all the other 'mackerel snappers' every Friday in lent.

I wrote Beau. I understand your point. Thanks for expressing it as a positive, not a negative rep. I was expecting a couple of negatives, frankly. But your post got me thinking. I will defend my reason and what I said, short of directing it at Beau, and that it would give others the idea my real problem was with Beau. It was not. It was with the thoughtless attitude of the privileged. I should have made that clear. Sorry.

See about having brca testing for your kids. It will tell you if your wife passed the gene. Then when they get older they can have their doctors keep a better eye on them and catch it early. My daughters doctor provided that for her, her two girls, her husband, my wife, me and the son in laws parents. The testing showed it came just from me. Not surprising.
