I remember when he said that us being his first offer went a long way with him and THAT, along with his relationship with Coach Alford, guaranteed us a visit. If I am not mistaken we were one of his first trips. Now he has committed and has asserted that he will not speak to any other coaches. I absolutely love his "code". This guy is appreciative and loyal, just the kind of young man we need. Also I hear he is a real character which is also great to hear. This young man will be a cornerstone of this class. He is a RKG, huge kudos to the staff for identifying that early on and staying after him and showing him we are the perfect fit on and off the field.

I believe Mr. Isaac Rochell was asking Mr. Heuerman if he had committed after his visit and Mr. Heuerman responded that he had not. Well...things have changed Mr. Rochell come on down, and jump in the water is mighty warm.

Kid is awesome.

What a ferocious blocker!

Thought the same about his blocking too! Man, he just destroyed those kids for yards at a time. Exciting to watch.

Oh yeah, and all the stuff about not even talking to other coaches is pretty nice too ;)

OSU fans really are dopes, they already recruited a Top 10 TE anyway in this Class in Baugh. To get worked up over this is just a waste of time......it's not like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Nice to have Mike in the family.......lets keep the momentum rolling!

Mike, thanks for joining the Irish!

Liking this class more and more. Feels like a very good foundation thus far. RKGs, good star ratings, and a lot less flakiness than in years past. I think we'll see a few pop over the summer, then the D recruits will start popping in September. Love to see Jason pop before August, but happy to wait as long as it takes.

GB; That's psycho!

Mike is the perfect example of the difference between Weis recruiting and Kelly recruiting. Weis would have floundered after missing on someone else. Kelly went out and found the exact right tight end for Notre Dame. Wasn't it Frank Leahy who said something about how it wasn't the eleven best, it was the best eleven? With a sophisticated offense, you definitely need the right skill set and Mike Heuerman is it. We could go on about his blocking ability, drive forward, sticking with the block, keeping his arms inside, sealing the edge, etc. We could go on about his crisp routes, attacking the ball, using his body, etc. Other than the fact that I think his forty time is obscelete, it isn't one skill, it is the whole package.

And then we can talk of his sense of honor, and his dealing with the personalities involved in his recruiting; that took grace, wisdom and maturity well beyond his years. It seems he has supportive parents that exhibit the same attitudes. That is so indicative of this class, and so nice for a change!

My favorite from OSU 247:

Im not usually one to complain but this kid can kiss my ***. He begs for an offer and then goes with the devil Brian Kelly. I hope Kelly berates him on tv and he regrets every second of his decision.

I can't wait until Jaylon commits to ND too.

Over on buckeyeplanet.com, the fans are crying that over this and it went from talking about Heuerman to talking about how we are going to have an awful year and Kelly will be on the hotseat. Stay classy buckeye fans

Notre Dame football recruiting: Post-Lynch visit key for Heuerman - southbendtribune.com

Lynch called to congratulate Mike on his commitment.

I know everyone is upset with him leaving but this kid could have screwed us out of this one. He wasn't happy when Mike visited the first time. The team knew it, the coaches knew it, and they still trusted Aaron to host Heuerman. Aaron showed him a good time and was honest with him when he could have bashed the University and the coaching staff. That shows a lot of maturity from a kid who is getting a bad rep on why he is leaving.

That's a good point. I'm glad he was honest about the program and I'll leave it at that.

My favorite part of the article:

"If anybody says a negative thing about coach Booker, he's got to be lying," Heuerman said. "He's a great person. You don't find many coaches like him. He's definitely one that will take care of you, produce you into the football player you want to be, and also produce you into the kind of guy you want to be."

Now that is great to hear. Kelly's moves with the staff are turning out to be one of the more important developments of the offseason. Booker is the man.

Booker is going to be a superstar by the time he's done at ND. His contributions on the recruiting trail cannot be overstated. He has been an amazing addition to the staff.

Like Polian? Let's see what Booker can do on the field before crowning him.
