GB; That's psycho!
Mike is the perfect example of the difference between Weis recruiting and Kelly recruiting. Weis would have floundered after missing on someone else. Kelly went out and found the exact right tight end for Notre Dame. Wasn't it Frank Leahy who said something about how it wasn't the eleven best, it was the best eleven? With a sophisticated offense, you definitely need the right skill set and Mike Heuerman is it. We could go on about his blocking ability, drive forward, sticking with the block, keeping his arms inside, sealing the edge, etc. We could go on about his crisp routes, attacking the ball, using his body, etc. Other than the fact that I think his forty time is obscelete, it isn't one skill, it is the whole package.
And then we can talk of his sense of honor, and his dealing with the personalities involved in his recruiting; that took grace, wisdom and maturity well beyond his years. It seems he has supportive parents that exhibit the same attitudes. That is so indicative of this class, and so nice for a change!
