I've never heard this either
One last thing to respond to this. The reason I've heard "when's the last time you made the NCAA tournament?" is because it's a valid insult to Northwestern. It's not original, but it's true. Just something to think about when you have the same response to my comments about why people don't like you guys.

Actually, given the timeline thing you posted I'm somewhat convinced about Alviti, still not totally convinced about Malin, but whatever. You could certainly be right, and you'll notice I quickly stopped arguing about that point. Like I said, the point was that you guys were so quick to jump on what was really a very non-inflammatory, friendly post (actually, mostly just you, Lax. Most of these other guys actually seem alright)
When I first read this thread and posted, I honestly thought you seemed like a nice group who were going to break down the stereotypes I had in my mind about ND fans... instead you reinforced them. See you gents in 2014.

No, you had no reason to get bent out of shape and defensive over me posting simple facts about the number of players who have committed to NU with reported ND offers. But you did, because you're a classless tool. If you guys ever wonder why the rest of the country hates you so much, this is it. It's not because you're so good. That era ended in 1995. It's because of crap like this

Are you honestly trying to tell me ND stopped recruiting Malin Jones before he committed to NU... in October of his junior year?
And yeah, of course the only reason you would ever lose a recruit to lowly NU is because they're scared of the competition at big bad ND. Yeesh. I come here peacefully answering a question posed by one of your posters and this is the kind of response I get. Get over yourselves.
Incredible how optimistic/arrogant you are even after UConn, Syracuse, Navy, Tulsa, USF...
yes, because upsets never happen in football... Appalachian State is a better team than Michigan... As much as I hate Michigan, i would pick Michigan over A State 100 out of 100 times... ill be right 99 times it seems, oh well, ill take my chances...
Purple Haze, I am not sure what you are getting mad at... Everyone who posted here basically congratulated the young man and hoped he does well for Northwestern. Notre Dame fans have tons of respect for Northwestern because they are a school that takes academics as seriously as anyone in the nation. Since IU has no chance of winning anything in the next 20 years, I wouldnt mind seeing Northwestern win the Big 10, maybe Alviti is a good step toward that.

What a joke...you just proved my point. You were overlooking NU despite the fact that upsets do happen all the time in college football (as you just stated). It doesn't matter who's favored going into a game on paper. Not to mention, NU has beaten a top 15 team in each of the last three years.
No **** Michigan will almost always beat App St. The gap between those two programs is much greater than that between ND and NU.
Don't kid yourself, they are a rival waiting to happen. A bit of a sleeping giant so to speak.
alright, if you are worried about the 1 in 100 loss, then go ahead and be worried, your choice, but I am definitely not going to fret over it and its not even worth discussion, especially telling us to stop congratulating a player because we will play him in a couple years...
Not surprisingly, you missed the point again. ND would NOT win 99 out of 100 against NU!!
The gap between ND and NU is much, much less than that between Michigan and an FCS school.
