really need a win to help us all heal and move forward. The blue gold game is huge. Gotta get a W!

Ha, just kidding. Trying to be positive. Sucks to lose Lynch. He could have be an All-American this year.

I just want to leave all of you with the 18 year olds, first time away from home. I knew some, and maybe the reason they didn't b1tch and moan was because they were more concerned with staying alive.

The most important point in any of these posts is the comment someone made about quitting. Once you start . . .

Those that I saw quit in my earlier days, usually had given up on more than what was at hand, and they usually had unexpectedly had reached their peak. It is amazing how many times diminished ego gratification results in quitting behavior. Not exactly the kind of guy I want watching my back . . .

I agree with the opinion that seems to be prevailing later in this thread. If a guy can't cut it at Notre Dame, despite the best councelling and tutoring we can offer, shake hands wish him the best and say "So long."

He came, he tried it out, he lacked the qualities necessary to make ND home. Agreed, it does not speak well of his maturity and dedication at this point...but I can't see trying to limit his choices as an option. He is not the enemy...he has been in the trenches wearing the gold helmet. He was unable to adapt and that is that.

It most certainly hurts the d-line, he has rare skills, skills that will not be replaced by committee. On the other hand it does not destroy our d-line, we still have plenty of impact players.

I keep seeing references to Tate Nichols in this thread. What reference did I miss? Did he light up Lynch in Spring Practice or something?

Nice post. I agree 110%. It hard to quit the first time, but it gets easier, and easier as the tough decisions pile up through life. I hope he had a good reason, and pray to God its not over a girl.

I live 5 minutes from Mommy's house. Wonder how long it will take to hit the market?

I'm going to opt for the low road. I hope he never sustains a major injury in the game of football. I wonder if i'll run into him working at a Sunoco gas station when I vacation in Florida in the next 20 years. Hopefully for him, he doesn't get injured and his route to the NFL will be easy. Good riddance.

Klm was doing great last year and will make sure we forget Lynch after a few games Our DBS will surprise and that coupled with a more productive starting QB is far more important than keeping a pouting malcontent in the program. The team will rally around this loss. The nd defense will play better than last year and have more sacks and TOs than 2011. QB play and seeing "Tommy Time" turn into "Tommy Red hat Time" will be the single most important move for the team in 2012. All the 5 stars that opted out for easier paths bettr play at least 5 years in the pros or they will wind up most likely in the joint or making just above min wage. D we really think Lynch will finish out his classwork? I doubt it, let's see if he holds a pressed where he thanks coach Kelly and the university for the time he spent there..........I doubt it. The teM will rally around this and be much better off without him. Tuitt will put his numbers to shame.

I hope Aaron thought this choice out very well. I hope he was not making choices while having depression or something serious. Hopefully the coaches or medical staff checked this out.
We all make stupid choices at 19 or thereabouts that we regret the rest of our lives.
What is the rush with the choice while he is still in school??
I hope some seniors like Manti, Tyler, and KLM tried to talk him out of this.
A lot of bravado now on the internet, but the reality is this will likely turn out bad or not as good as could have been for both Aaron Lynch and Notre Dame.
Aaron, you should reconsider! Especially while still in school the next 6-8 weeks??????

Damn, guys (and gal). It just occurred to me that if we had just been a little bit quicker about getting that Jumbotron installed, and better music, and choreographing the entrance of the team onto the field, we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation!

@BFeldmanCBS: Notre Dame won't release stud DE Aaron Lynch to FSU, UF or Miami, per a source. Hearing USF is the leader on this one.

Awesome...and the way it should friggin' be. You thought snow sucks Aaron? The bench sucks even worse. Catch you in 2013, son.

Good, give him to Skip! I can't say I blame ND. While it would be nice to let him go wherever, there is a business side to college football as well, and Aaron just became a part of it.

And here I was thinking the rumors about him to USF were cause he was so impressed by USF's win over ND this past year that he wanted to play for them from that game on! I mean, who can blame him, USF is a stout, Big East team!

My uninformed guess is that Lynch and BK talked about him wanting to go to USF and so he only released him to USF...

So I'm finally over my brief depression...

So I'm finally over my brief depression...

And I realized the wrath Aaron had endured, was none other than that of the fabled golden pussy.

This comment will not probably not even be read with all the stuff going on around Lynch but my comments would be this-his Mom seems to be quite the special woman. Second if he doesnt want to be at Notre Dame and sees no value in being a Notre Dame man then he has absolutely done the right thing. I coach baseball in private pitching lessons as I am a former major league player-I see the entitlement aspect alot with the young studs and quite frankly it comes as no shock to me when they spin off course. Good luck Aaron most of us hope this works out for you but we can all be assured no one is bigger than the program ( just ask Petrino )-this makes me love Notre Dame even more-as they try to do it right. No hard feelings here as Notre Dame has enough to keep going forward.
