Will be at the 3 day junior camp this summer. Dual sport athelte that won the state 110 hurdles as a sophomore. Just received his first four offers last week.

Per Wiltfong we will be tough to beat if we ultimately offer.

got a gear that we need at the RB position. looks like he could be an effective receiver out of the backfield as well.

This kid looks to have good vision of the cut back lanes, reads his blockers, good size and upside for his frame. Plus he seems fast as SH!T

I play St. Louis area football and am friends with guys that are bestfriends with him so I'll try to get some info but I must say zeke plays in the 3rd level of STL high school football so the competition is not strong.

I was just about to post something along those lines. I'm from Jefferson City. STL football isn't bad, but it certainly hasn't produced a lot of prospects for how big the area is. Burroughs isn't know for having a great football team either.

Ya know who was a great HS football player in St. Louis? This guy.

No, seriously. He did have an offer to play ball for Illinois. I remember he kicked a$$ in MTV Rock and Jock Football.

Burroughs doesn't play great talent or high level ball but... if he is dominating at a level he should be for division 1 offers, then by all means give him a look. I had a very close friend and roommate that went to Burroughs. Soccer player. He was looked at by several division 1 schools simply because his academics and what the school produces as far as young men. I would almost bet we are high on this kids list because the last few years he learned the importance of an education and future after athletics. I love it! Hopefully he earns a scholarship and makes the most of it.

Just talked to my friend who is best friends with Zeke and he said Zeke is expecting a scholly soon and would favor Notre Dame

Rivals has him as a 4* and considers him similar to 3 other backs of 4* status, 24/7 has him as a 3*, 27th back, 323 overall. Regardless, I like and hope he gets an offer.

He'd definitely be able to play both Slot and RB.

No he's all running back and will not play slot

It'd be like putting Wood at slot. He could but is much better out of the backfield

I'll give you credit for being close and probably knowing more about the kid than me, but Kelly has said time and time again that he likes his RBs to have the ability to play slot. They don't have to be just as good at it as they are at RB. Zeke seems to have the ability to play slot though given he's lined up at WR in some of those highlights.

Wasn't suggesting he'd possibly be moved to slot full-time.

RB's at slot is just very irritating to me, i really dont want to have to watch another Theo Riddick type guy take 2 years to learn how to play the position. Cant we just recruit proper slot guys? :/ Its not like BK had Theo do anything creative really like end arounds or fly/jet sweeps etc. He did some wildcat his sophmore year but it was pretty bad

I'm pretty sure BK doesn't want a RB to permanently play slot. He wants them to line up in the slot for specific plays. Theo was converted to slot full time. Different scenarios. Pretty sure Reggie Bush lined up in the slot a lot. That worked out pretty well.

Why did you edit the part about your friend saying he thinks we are offering soon?

The things is, a lot of the skills you need for both positions overlap, and many guys will not only have the skills to play both positions but also the instincts. Reggie Bush is a good example. Golden Tate played both RB and WR in high school and out of high school he was recruited by most schools to play RB:
An Interview With Seahawks Receiver Golden Tate - Field Gulls
Imagine if we had failed to give him a chance at WR. So don't be mad at Kelly for experimenting with Riddick at slot. He could have been the next Tate ... it just didn't work out because it turns out that Riddick is a more natural RB.

Steve Wiltfong:

St. Louis (Mo.) Burroughs RB Ezekiel Elliott tells me the Irish just offered. Will have more later. He visited for the Air Force game in the fall and is already signed up for the three-day camp. I think ND moves to the top of his list with Ohio State and Missouri.

Tough call though. On one hand, he obviously wanted the offer and he probably knows that RBs higher on our board are interested, so he might want to reserve a spot.

However, his parents are Missouri grads, and he might want to give them a legit shot. And OSU is a real threat as well.

I have no idea how good he is, so I'm not sure how I feel if he were to commit with Green and our Chicago stud RB still firmly in the mix. Anyone have any insights on how good he is, what type of back, etc? Thanks...

I don't think we at favorites for either Issac or Green, second to scUM and UF

Take it for what it's worth but has great meaureables (size and speed), can block and recieve is very smart (Burroughs is probably the #1 school in Missouri) and will be the #1 player in the st. Louis area and maybe Missouri

Plus I think we can easily take both Ty Isaac and Elliot because Isaac is a big, bruising back whereas Elliot is a smaller, quicker back. But it does get a little awkward if Ryan Green wants to commit because he and Zeke Elliot are more similar players. I don't know that we need more than one light, quick RB/slot receiver type in this class, since we got Neal, Carlisle, Russell, Atkinson, and McDaniel in the last two classes. But like STLDomer said Green isn't leaning our way anyway so the problem is more hypothetical than real.
