CNN Breaking News

Kind of crazy she was only 48. I know she had demons and been through very hard times. Never the less crazy news. May she rest in peace.

*Bodyguard was a good movie and her voice was amazing!

Everything I am finding on it says the cause of death and where she died is still unknown. This is still very fresh. Curious what happened.

Still ... RIP Whitney.

I can only guess but it would have to pertain to her drug abuse, unfortunately. She was a crazy talent, with a beautiful voice. Just got caught in the wrong life style.

It is a near certainty that it was the drugs that did her in. Regardless of what they release publically. She married a bad dude...
What a voice she had in her prime...

Wonderful voice. May she RIP now. She is tormented no more by the demons she fought for so long.

Dance with the devil, you lay with the devil....(in the end).

What a pity. So talented and threw her life away.

Whitney Houston and Michigan lacrosse are about on par as talking points for me.

Please don't disrespect a dearly lost talent like Whitney Houston by including her in the same sentence as Michigan Lacrosse. Truly a sad conclusion to a blessed life. R.I.P.

Tragic! What an incredible talent. When she sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl during the Gulf War...wow...I was so proud, may God bless her soul.

In more positive news my brother had her, Joe Paterno, and George Bush Sr in a death pool. He seems to be doing well.

Shouldn't say anything, but thousands of hard-working, long-suffering, well-meaning people who never have had anything in their lives are dying everyday. They are the tragedies, not the "stars". They are who we should be praying for, and assisting where we can, every day.

As for this particular star, may God accept your life and you. I wish no ill will on anyone heading on that last voyage.

I mentioned nothing of her death...only her name. If somebody started a thread yesterday about her BEFORE she died, how much intrigue and care would be placed on that thread? I'd guess roughly the same as in the Michigan lacrosse thread. Millions of people die every day across this planet. Some die tragically, some die heroically, some die helplessly, some die alone, some die needlessly. Whitney Houston's death is no more important than any of these others...and I feel no need to pretend it is. If a need is felt to "honor" her or "remember" her, fine-- go right ahead. I'd rather spend more time honoring and remembering the people who have died that weren't as interested in what the media and their "fans" thought of them, but that did care deeply about what their family, their friends, and their maker of thought of them. While you're busy neg repping me and lighting a candle for Whitney Houston, hopefully others will be busy speaking about the wonderful deeds and actions of others and lighting a candle for them.

Supposedly, she had been clean for a while now. So this could have been a relapse or even just the residual effects of years of drug abuse. Either way, sad stuff.

Sad Sad situation. She belongs on the Mount Rushmore of women artist. It's a shame what that stuff (drugs) can do to people!

...Man how sad. My personal observation is that she was a once in a generation talent.

She had a disarming smile, and an innocence and vivaciouslness to her in the early years that was hard not to like.

Later she seemed to get the hollywood glaze...did not seem the same. Can't say if the change caused the drugs, or the drugs caused the change...

Either way she appeared to change...and not for the better.

RIP.
