Thought this was funny. Per Facebook, favorite quote: "F*ck you, pay me."

The more I'm reading though it just sounds like he got sold a bad batch of goods at the 11th hour and that was that. I blame the parents, NCAA, and this assistant coach Christian more than anything. Kids need guidance and he didn't get it. In no way, shape or form should any adult encourage a kid to go Houston over any real school (not just ND). The people around him failed him.

Also eerily reminds me of the Savon Huggins situation on a number of levels where Schiano spewed endless BS at Savon... things like "football aside I'd go to Rutgers as a better school"... and how he'd always be there for him... and then one year later bolts for the Bucs.

Good riddance Deontay. Surprising I'm not too upset about this. In the last two days, this young man has shown his true character and I completely agree with Kelly when he says that he would rather "play him four times than play with him for four years." A kid like that will be cancerous to any team he's on. Best of luck deontay, thank you for not coming here. This INCREDIBLE school isn't for you.

In recent years, UH has been ranked in the Top-25 a good majority of the time. I can't even remember the last time Notre Dame football was relevant. I'm sure Deontay had the same problem when considering why he was about to sign with such a dead program. Welcome to Houston DG!

What would you know about relevance Coog?

Maybe you should head to the "The Cougars Den" to celebrate...where there are THREE posts on signing "a big receiver".

As Coog 8806 said, "Welcome to Houston DG!"

Completely speechless....I had a bad feeling he might bolt, but I thought for sure it would be to one of the Pac 12 schools, and not on national signing day....Unreal.

Astute observation about bolting. But I am amazed at everyone that expected him to go Pac 12 or better. Lads not dressed for success. Many rough edges. Reactive not proactive. Compare his presentation and statement of goals to Tee's. No comparison. All this being said, maybe because we deify these guys there is no room for him to be 18. After all how many 18 year-olds haven't made a punk move at least once?

Just feel bad for Tee, I mean he changes schools and had to sit out his senior season just for the chance to play with his cousin and this is how he's repaid.

You weren't lying.

Wow. That definitely didn't make me feel better. I was hoping for the opposite, "he never wanted ND, and never truly considered ND" angle. That would be an easier pill to swallow, not he was manipulated and didn't have time to process the true ramnifications of his choice.

It sucks that he bolted, but some of the classless jerkoffs on the BnagBangND group seriously need reality checks.

And Coog: now that Sumlin is gone, Houston can go crawl back into its hole.

The one good thing about playing in the dark hole that is Houston Cougar football is the fact that you don't have to worry about "shadows"

Sumlin never brought us any 5-star recruits. ; )

...because Keenum surely didn't cast any shadows. He'll be making a much bigger impact in the NFL than Clausen.

I just want to clarify for you. None of us hate Houston. In fact, I would say 99% of us couldn't give less of a damn about what Houston does - which is why it was shocking for Deontay to go there. Nobody is saying he won't be good. Hell, Tommy Rees would be a god on your team with how awful your opponents are. For example, I'm assuming there is some WR on your team with crazy stats. 98% of the country has no idea who he is and they don't care. Michael Floyd had ~1100 yards and 9 TDs and is a household name. Get the point?

Do you really think they'll forego dodgeball tournaments to air Houston's exhibition of constant bubble screens and quick slants?

You do realize it took Houston to have their best season ever and Keenum to shatter records against poor competition just to be noticed, right? Clausen was on some of the worst teams ND has ever had and was still drafted in the 2nd round.

Meaning, at Houston you have to crazy stats to just get noticed and then you MIGHT get drafted. At Notre Dame with all of the media and scouts that show up, all the time. A player can just be good and more than likely WILL get drafted or be some of the first to get looks after the draft.

In comparison Notre Dame has 3x as many players in the NFL than Houston. None of them had to go 12-1 to be noticed. With the talent coming in the teams will be better and even more attention will be brought to ND.

But anyways, I wish Deontay the best of luck, even though he did do ND wrong by leaving at the very last minute. But I will never wish ill will to anyone. If he had real aspirations for the NFL, going to Houston, in my opinion, makes it that much more difficult.

Please just go away. I understand we are keeping you here by pandering to your asinine comments, but you have bigger things to do than talk about winning a recruit, like ensuring Houston wins "America's Fattest City" again. I'd wish you luck on that, but I highly doubt you guys need any. Tell the other people at Whataburger today that title isn't going to win itself.

Maybe thats the reason why ND is always overrated and overhyped every year. You guys have the spot light so much.

UH>ND!

That's all fine and dandy, enjoy your one year in the 'spotlight' if you even call it that. When DGB committed to Houston, no lie, I had to google them because I didn't even know what their mascot was. You had a great year and a great steal on NSD. But nobody cares or will ever care. Get lost. For the record, the picture you made is kind of funny.

Exactly. And I looked up Houston's WRs. Apparently Patrick Edwards had over 1700 yards and 20 TDs. I've never heard of him, and I'm going to assume most of you have not either.

Houston fan telling us we're overrated. Oh the sheer irony. Have fun sweeping the conference USA. Good luck against Tulane.
