Duval_Kamara RT @BCSmith58: Im gonna go ahead and call it now... look for @lnix67 to be our Fairley next year!! << Ill second that!

Also retweeted by Rudy and maybe some other players I missed. If this ends up being even remotely close to accurate... I'm looking forward to next season.

Hopefully not because he is known for slamming opposing players heads in the turf after the fact. Man was Auburn dirty last night...that knee to the head after the whistle on the kick off...typical after the whistle when the coach tears in to him and the hands come up like 'what'd I do?'

Hope he gets in good enough shape for that to be a possibility.

What about Tyler Stockton? Where does he fit in to all this? Just curious.

This.

Nick Fairley is trash. I'd hate to see Louis Nix throwing up gang signs and beating his own chest every time he shamelessly cheap-shots a player.

Hope he gets in good enough shape for that to be a possibility.

He has eight months.

He'll probably get in the rotation during games. If not, probably a transfer.

I want Louis Nix to be Louis Nix. Terrorizing offenses with class.

Is anyone else excited about the depth we are building on the D-Line? Just 2 years ago the d-line was a huge concern because of the lack of bodies. Now we have someone like Stockton who was pretty highly touted coming out of high school fighting for PT.

Which might cause a transfer, whispers of it are starting on II. Thinking they are refering to Stockton....hopefully just stupid internet rumors.

I am not saying that Nix ca not be a monster but you are talking about twitter. Where all the ND guys keep joking about roll tide, Make fun of Brian Smiths 4.4 speed and Floyd kept teasing about his decision. Nix is clearly well liked by his teammates but its just a tweet. stop reading so much into it. They could be calling him dirty for all we know

The II has been talking about Walker transferring for years. They also started the Crist rumors. Unless one of the writers say it, its mostly BS

No offense... but reading too much into it would be "OMG LOUIS NIX IS GOING TO BE AN AA NEXT YEAR"

Reading the correct amount into is saying "hey, it looks like Louis' teammates have a high opinion of him and if this is even close to accurate he could be in for a big year next year"

I think the comments are all much more to the latter and I don't think anyone is taking a tweet as cannon. Either way, I thought it was interesting and worth pointing out, and if that's "reading too much into it" then call me Miss Cleo.

What do you mean by "even close to accurate?" Fairley was a first team All-American while Louis hasn't played a down of college football yet. This tweet means nothing; let's not get too excited.

Stop reading too much or too little in these "tweets". They are college kids who like to talk smack. We weren't there practicing all year. Maybe Nix is the next big deal, Let's hope. May the best players play. Stop hanging all your eternal dreams on these tweets.

Cutting through this ephemeral nonsense though, and focussing on what we're really interested in, the fact that the guys are comfortable with Louis probably means they think he can play. I do too from all I've heard from non-Twitterish accounts.

D-line is one of the areas where you want a lot of people to play. With Cwynar and Nix, Lewis-Moore and Schwenke, EJohnson and Hafis Williams, it seems to me that Diaco has a lot to throw at opponents. This gives folks like Tuitt and Lynch [fingers crossed] the luxury of learning a clever scheme from veterans everywhere, and if they're immediately good enough, still get some playing time.

Pretty hard to see any negatives in all this. ------- and of course the guys weren't referring to Nix as a Fairly behaviorwise. They're stoking him up. I believe that we're looking forward to a knock-out team defense next season. That analysis of our team advancement this year, posted elsewhere, [an article in the freebie section], was hard data on that.

[Note especially the "defensive efficiency" stat, which measures the real effectiveness of a D regardless of bad field position et al. We were one of the best 15 defenses in the country by that measure].

OMM: You are the man. Nice stat info. Made me beat my chest, Fairley-esque, minus the gang signs...

-My glass is always at least half full of Green Kool-Aid. And now the data shows that all of us Green Kool-Aid swillers know what we're talking about. Man, that stuff tastes good!! [let those other guys drink those bitters]. Keep the party going Louis & Sean & Ethan & Kona & Kapron & Hafis & Stephon & Aaron & oh yeh, Manti, you can do the HAKA if you want.

Completely disagree, he likes to joke and have fun. The guys on the team, including veterans, seem to really like him. Don't think its about immaturity but more about just enjoying what he is doing

Well he's a big boy, and we need that fella holding and exploiting gaps. This will help our ball-hawking LBs ten-fold if he winds up as good as predicted.

I'm excited. Everyone else should be too. This next two years will be special.

Every recruiting website I've read has been extremely high on this kid. They all say that he has brute force and he does not get pushed around. This was my favorite recruit last year. He will be a monster.

It will be fantastic to have a kid at NT which will strike fear on the opposing sides O line. As long as he doesn't pull any of that flagrant personal foul BS, I am ok with the NT for the Irish having a nasty, abrasive attitude.

Here is the biggest thing: With the announcement of Ishaq Williams today, and Lynch and the mystery (huge) defensive commit coming soon, we will have damn near two complete platoons with the kind of talent, that their synergy will make each better. For your inspection, think about dealing with Nix on the inside with Moore, Shembo, Rasaba, Lynch, (Drew?), Tuitt, Councell, Currico, Springman, etc., on the outside? Forgot about the inside linebackers didn’t you? Now try to plan a survivable offensive game plan against that group, and shembo is the only one of ‘em who has used a year of eligibility!

Looking at the stats of Nix. I have a smidgen of sympathy for the guards and center for Navy, because I have cut block someone(I am sure others on this forum have as well) that outweighed me by 75lbs and it does not feel good when they come down on you.

Is this something new or the one that has been kiced around for a week in the "surprise commit" thread?

I think with all this talen at the LB positions they will be afraid to double all of the linemen so that will also help the linemen get more sacks as well.
