What shadow? He plays on a different side of the ball and was California player of the year. Tee's great but in a completely different way. They may be praised together but he was never in Tee's shadow.

Didn't Kiel end up getting assigned #1? Maybe that swayed his decision, not being able to wear #1 like his cousin.

Man...the Rivals USC mod, Gerald Martinez, is pretty damn good. He called this one in December. Didn't say Houston, but he said Deontay was basically a drama queen (not exact words but to that effect) and that his recruitment would be filled with a ton of drama and that he could see Deontay flipping last minute and shocking everyone by going to a school like Oregon. Always kept this in the back of my mind but kept it quiet b/c I didn't want to believe it.

Man, what horrible news to come online to.

Whatever...his loss; fu*k it. On to the Spring Game.

Good Luck at that dumphole that is the UofH campus and winning 5 games next year in a bad conference with no exposure.

Moronic decision. And terrible job by our coaching staff.

Truth. He deserves all the sh!t that comes his way. From what is out there he didn't even tell Tee. LOL.

It's called an excuse. People who do things for one reason use other reasons to justify.

After his mother's post on his wall I was worried about this. Greenberry was the most crucial recruit in this class, IMO. I've been anxiously waiting for his letter all day... I can't believe that this happened. This feels like a bad dream.

If the rumor about feeling the shadow is true, Tee had a passion for ND, and Deontay didn't. Hopefully, he told Tee about it, because if not, that's a cold move on a family/blood level.

Think about it... Houston goes 12 and 1, goes to the 2,000 Flushes bowl. ND goes 12 and 1, probably in the NC game, at least in a BCS game. Huge difference I would think.

truest things we learned today are:

1). None of the "insiders" or "connected" guys on this site or any of the recruiting sites really know anything

2). Notre Dame will never be safe with any recruit

These are the facts of life in CFB when you do things the right way ethically, have a demanding educational program, are located in a cold weather area, aren't flush with a huge supply of attractive ladies and MOST importantly, don't play good football. But, really, that last is the result of the rest.

1) I feel bad for Tee, at least Tee made a knowledgeable choice

2) Watch him transfer to ND after next season like Amir just did. After all, he "said" he wanted to play with his cousin.

When it was announced that he was killing his FB account and changing his number I said it was a bad sign, and was pessimistic about it. And was laughed at by posters here. And looks like it was a sign.

Coach may have seen this coming and that is why he offered Goodman a 5th year.

At least DG went to another family member, too bad it wasn't Tee who sacrificed his senior year to play with Deonatay.

I guess the percentages are not in our favor when commits keep taking trips--Taylor, Darby, Deontay, Perkins. We did keep the most important one IMO a shutdown cover corner in Tee.

Wow, not a stellar day. We did get some WR, some excellent RB's, depth at safety and most likely a starter, punt returner, our long snapper, very talented 2 Olinemen. So, we have some of our holes covered. Just hurts when we lose 2 5 star caliber guys!

I'm going to assume he'll hate Houston after being there for a year, and hopefully when he transfers, it's to ND.

This is the biggest, steamiest, smelliest pile of sh*t since...well, as long as I've been following recruiting. I just don't get this one. I guess I'll wish him luck though...

I'm going to stick to just watching ND on Saturdays ... It's easier on the heart to be disappointed only once a week rather than 365 with this recruiting nonsense... Anything can happen, there truely r no " insiders" it's one thing to hear a rumor but I think now to stir the pot is foolish... Until ND WINS there isn't much to be optimistic about...maybe one day academics will actually matter to the majority 17 yr olds, or global warming will make south bend like south beach. If ur best recruiting tool is early playing time cuz we under achieve ever year then it's hard to be optimistic... Cuz ELITE players can play early anywhere... Kids want to Win, have fun, be coached by big names ( meyer) , and be developed into NFL players...Much love to all the kids that signed here and honored their commitments... Loyalty is rare these days... I'm ranting on here but it's just crazy to me that OSAsian have a huge scandal and the black cloud is lifted soon as Meyer is hired... It shows how crazy the system of college football is... OSU breaks the rules and some how their punishment turned into being in a 10 times better spot than they were before the trouble... Big time programs make splashes on signing day not get splashed... But what do I know maybe there is a " buzz buzz" floating around still and ND will finish shockingly great. I won't hold my breath and I'd recommend no one else does either.

His own spotlight??? He would have been beloved by the Irish Nation. Which is arguably the biggest in all of football.

Explain this please. I don't see how the coaches get the brunt here. Doing a poor job of reading his character is what I assume you mean, because it's hard to believe they weren't on him throughout the process.

lol, Tommy Rees would be a star in conference usa. It doesn't mean jack. Case Keenum isn't projected anywhere near the first round even though he has a couple records. I watch a ton of college football and I can't think of another player in Conf-USA.

Houston lost everything that made them even a peripheral concern in college football. What are the chances that they ever have another season as good as last year's? Deontay will be lucky if he plays in more than two bowl games during his career there. Not to mention that, if he doesn't make the NFL, this will probably cost him a few million dollars over the course of his life.
