2) the questioning of kelly. if there's one thing that brian kelly has proven, it's that he knows how to evaluate, work with and develop quarterbacks. there is nothing he could have done this year to please everyone. he had 4 qb's, and none of them were great options. maybe he could have made some different decisions that would have worked out better for the team, maybe not. but despite everyone's extreme confidence in their own capacity to evaluate quarterbacks, i think i'll take kelly's evaluation over all of yours.
I wanna know how 5 people could have picked Tommy Rees... They must be Michigan fans or something...
IrishYJ told me to say something on here...
No more boring football bet your *** on that
If Kelly was so good at evaluatinig QB why did we have a 3 QB rotation last year and now it looks like we will add a 4th these your possibly a 5th if Gunner has a good spring.

Is that your kid? Lol.
I'd never wash him again after that.

How about evaluating talent enough to pick one QB to play the whole game and sticking with him? How about not putting a "running threat" in the game for 5-6 plays and bringing a cold Rees in to get a 1st down on 3rd and long. Fumbles and INT go back to this whole flip flopping of QB's. If he had confidence in his evaluation he will have one starter after the Spring game and stick with him. Flip Flopping starters and the whole dual QB system will give us another very average season again in my opinion!
Jan. survey among BlueandGold.com's members has Everett Golson as overwhelming favorite to start in 2012 The Early People’s Choice: Golson #NotreDame #fb
This is really wrong, for a number of reasons.

6) What if this was Kelly's evaluation was wrong because he did not account for Crist lack of poise in the past. Rees has ice water running through his veins most of the time. If this was Kelly’s original evaluation what has changed? So, are we still looking at a Rees start, Hendrix (special packages) and if all else fails I will try Golson…oh and Gunner could really come along this spring. I just want him to pick a starter, put his stock in him, and make him feel like he has faith in him to lead us to a good season. The whole I think Rees should start this week but with Hendrix playing, but maybe this week Hendrix should start, but Golson is amazing and man that freshman has it all evaluation will not get us wins, period!
I will support whoever is the starter next year. I am just hoping it is one QB, not 3-4.

I do not agree with your opinion but am not arrogant enough to say you are wrong! I just think you’re chugging the Kelly Kool-Aid.
1) Notice all the past tense verbs you are using in this explanation (loved, worked, etc). The wildcat is not used as much in college football because per your quote “It worked, really well, until defenses realize that they could simply sell out on the run”. It is time to nix the Leprechaun, in my opinion!
2) There is a huge difference in rotating LB’s or DL compared to QB’s. The QB position is a lot about rhythm and consistency. I am saying you cannot expect Reese to sit on the side line for 4-5 plays and come in on a 3rd and long (obvious passing situation) and be successful! He comes in cold and under a lot of pressure to make up for his replacements lack of moving the ball. The QB is not just a position. It is the one position in my opinion were rotating has a huge negative impact because it takes the QB out of their rhythm! It is the equivalent for me in having a shooting guard sitting the bench the whole game then asking him to come in cold and hit the winning shot.
3) The stats are there for the whole year and I have watched a few of those games again. When the starter was bench so Mr. Run First QB could play a few downs…when the passing QB was brought back into the game his success was very low and resulted in a turnover most of the time.
4) I think Hendrix is a better overall athlete then Rees and would be a better QB for the Irish next year. However, if it is a Rees/Hendrix combination again it will be another long year, again in my opinion.
5) Rees, Hendrix, Golson, and Gunner…I was counting Crist sorry! If all 4 see the field without injuries and blowouts…it will be a LONG year!!!

Ok, I agree that we nix the leprechaun. And, I believe ND did that by replacing a running back with a mobile quarterback. If I'm not mistaken, This strategy worked exceptionally well for the Florida Gators when they went on to win a National Championship. Tim Tebow came in certain packages and gave that offense a running threat. The guy needed the experience, but wasn't ready for the whole offense.
I also agree that the LB, DL comparison is not a good one. Although, your assessment of the QB going "cold" because he sits out a few plays is absolutely ridiculous. If that were true, Tommy would never be able to throw the ball at the beginning of a drive because the defense was just on the field and he went "cold". Maybe using your logic Tommy should start playing defense too, that way he will never be cold because he will be playing 100% of the time.
Now, I absolutely agree that Kelly needs to make a choice and run with it. I believe that this season he proved that when he stuck with a sub-par Tommy Rees after the Dayne experiment failed. Although, I love that Kelly had the balls to bench Tommy when Tommy was playing poorly. Had Denver stuck with Orton this year, would they have won all those games? Is it a good idea to ride a lame horse when you know there's another one waiting in the wings, just ready for their shot? No matter who plays, there will be some more growing pains. Kelly will go with potential at this point and play the quarterback he's been excited to see in action...everett golson.
Anyone who thinks that Coach cares about any discussion board's opinions [even IE] about running his team, is living in a very strange world of internet imagination. The correct answer to the QB poll is " Player-to-be-named-later".
