I think discretion is really advisable in certain situations, especially like last year when a bunch of ninnies were bashing Aaron Lynch for his decommitment. But I don't see the problem with debating whether we want Yuri or not, as long as no one is making personal attacks on him. I truly sympathize with those who want to be certain that recruits don't read negative commentary about them, but on the other hand, why turn a message board into a forum for peppy, positive propaganda. This isn't Yuri Wright's fanclub, is it?

I'm normally very receptive to this argument, but having watched this very discussion devolve in baseless assertions about Yuri's lack of intelligence, character, etc. and other controversial subjects (e.g. race), I feel pretty confident in stating that this subject at least should have its own thread.

By all means, debate it. Just don't do it where Yuri or those who know him personally are likely to read it. The odds of such a discussion remaining civil and objective are very bad, to which the two previous thread lockings can attest.

I think there was a separate thread started that ended up being deleted because it got out of hand too.

I'm going to wait and see what the school does. If they let him in and he accepts, great. If not, unfortunate but that's life. We're probably not ever going to hear the whole story anyway.

I simply don't want to see this thread get locked again. Several times over the past week I've tried to post substantive updates on Wright's recruitment, but was unable to because his thread was locked. So in the interest of keeping everyone informed, I'd appreciate it if this particular discussion were limited to a separate thread.

But I'm not a mod, so feel free to disregard me.

I agree with you Whiskeyjack. This tweet thing has been rung, and rung again. People are going to have different opinions but there isn't anything new about the tweet subject. I'd like to hear real news!

IE Logic: Can't judge coach who turned a blind eye to child molestation, judges the hell out of a talented football player who had funny tweets that were mostly song lyrics.

Where do you get that anyone gave him a free ride? When it happened, most people were shocked, then heckled his defense that he didn't know men (could or did) have intercourse (with each other). That was enough for me to be fine with his summary dismissal. By eighty-five a man should know the difference between good and bad character, and the behaviors that go with each, or if he defers, then he doesn't care.

Pay him no mind. He just likes to b!tch because we're 'repressing' him, because he repeatedly gets his posts deleted because he repeatedly types things to get them deleted. In this case, he was asked several times to move his thoughts to the Sandusky/Penn State threads, and he refused. So in his twisted logic, he thinks he couldn't judge Joe Paterno, which wasn't the case at all. But whatever...that's his issue.

Thanks, for the background ND, It is greatly appreciated. Many read his literal statement without the background, and some believe everything in its most literal form as truth. Many times I get frustrated with what I see posted here, but sometimes when I read words like this, I have to defend the posters on this site.

What are the exact quotes from Yuri that have people thinking is so terrible?

(Assuming this discussion about Yuri still pertains to his thread.)

Wouldn't be surprised if he went the route of Jimmy Smith, extremely talented but passed on by major colleges for "character issues".

Also as posted before a lot of those tweets were lyrics from Lil' Wayne.

I'm glad for Yuri. This is also a huge pickup for Colorado. He could be the next Jimmy Smith.

Uhhh Colorado is definitely a "major college."

I mean in terms of football excellence, you wouldn't include Colorado in the ranks of the SEC, OSU, Texas etc...

They're a state school and yes, a major college, but not a football power.

Boulder is also the pot smoking capital of the US, which is what Jimmy Smith's "character issues" stemmed from.
