Is it your personal job to forgive Joe Pa?

Begrudge him then.

Sour grapes make great raisins and wine.

Did anyone listen to his interview a week or so ago? (I did.)

Everyone has a personal choice on who or what they forgive.

I don't begrudge him, I feel sorry for him.

No sour grapes here Sir.

I didn't see the interview.

Peace bud! I'm just voicing my thoughts and reading others.

Couldn't have said it better myself Johnny

Judgment is not for us. We are not privy to the facts nor were there when things went down.

RIP Joe.

I'm still not clear on how it's wrong to forgive.

I value those who can forgive without condition.

I'm probably not even capable without many hours of counsel and prayer.

But Joe Pa made a bad decision. Probably a million of them.

Luckily, to God, a sin is a sin. There is only one unforgiveable.

It's so easy to be washed in the blood. (Dear father, forgive me... For I have sinned -or- Jesus, please forgive me I have sinned. I accept you as my lord. You came and died for me on the cross, so that I may be forgiven.)

If we die without forgiveness, how can we be forgiven? I'm certain many go to heaven without, as God is subjective and the authority. Thank-you God, for Jesus.

The bottom line here is this: God's law is not man's law and vice-versa.

Those of you who've seen other posts know I'm not letting anyone off the hook for what transpired in State College, however, Joe isn't evil...

So, from that perspective, I say goodbye to a guy who was an Icon in my childhood...the very first book I picked up and read on my own was "Football My Way". I'll miss the thought of Happy Valley with JoePA at the Helm. To some degree my acid demeanor toward the NCAA, and my expectations of student athlete came from the environment Joe Paterno created across the entire state of PA.

Today I look at the good...Rest in Peace, Joe.

Hate to see a legend go out like this. PSU football was his life; it was what kept him alive and running. All things come to an end though.

RIP Joe. I hope you and Bo have some discussions in heaven, on what it would've been like if you two coached against one another.

Or how much they despised Notre Dame?

I believe when the facts are out JoePa will be looked upon much more kindly. I in no way am one who is happy about his passing, and am pretty surprised at those who are.

For those interested, there will be a "Remembering Joe Pa" special on Big Ten Network if you have the channel.

When I heard this, my first thoughts were the similarities of how he and Bear Bryant died. R.I.P. JoePa.

Everything about this story is sad. I'm sad for PSU, for his family, and especially for the abuse victims. I'm just sad.

Rest in Peace. I'm not going to make any other comments regarding what I think of Paterno. I just hope that people who follow him and follow in his footsteps learn from the good he did and learn from what he didn't do well.

I don't see how some can call for remembering this man in a complete vacuum. I've seen numerous calls for people to avoid mention of the sad series of events that tainted his legacy and at the same time encourage others to remember him for all the great things he did.

It's in poor taste to speak ill of the dead. I really wanted to leave this one alone too, believe me, but I also find it just as distasteful to sing this man's praises all day long when there is fairly strong evidence that he fell far short of the ideals that everybody is professing that he inspired.

"Don't judge" seems to be a common refrain but whether you're praising or condemning him you are making a judgment on the type of man Joe Paterno was. I honestly hope he is resting in peace, but I wish everybody would stop condemning those that choose to remember a man for his full record.

The mods have asked that this type of conversation be taken to a different thread. I have no friggin idea what is so hard to understand about that. We have a couple/few folks who need to show more respect for the mods and this board as a whole.

What I'm reading is a blatant disrespect for the governing body of our boards: the "moderator."

A man has died.

You people bind him to debts over another man?

I'd be willing to bet none of the ill-speaking "members" of this board have heard his last interview.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

If I've posted in the wrong place, then I apologize to the mods. I thought that my post was merely trying to address the tone of posts already the thread.

...Indeed. My rebuttal to all of those folks is for another day...but this is very true. The outrage over Happy Valley has been leveled like a laser instead of the flood light it should be...

RIP JoePa
Whatever actually happened, I have to believe you did what was in the best interest of the university and the people involved. From everything I have ever seen about you, you have seemed like a classy guy with the utmost character. God speed, sir. "May the Road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And the rains, fall softly upon your fields. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
