Can you image the absolute bull **** they hve to dig through?

crazy...IMO this is what is going thru their mind:

academics
winning
position
weather
family want
recruiting services
coaches

and on and on.

Not a very easy task for anyone, much less a 17/18 yo.

Down to Cal and ND. Two teams enter, only one can leave. Its the...Arik-dome!!!!!!!!!!!

And one has his name in the directory.

And his buddies.

It's crystal clear boys: set yourselves up for the easy letdown.

Expect the worst, hope for the best...

All the writing is on the walls; from what everyone is saying Armond isn't visiting or transferring to ND, which means the no graduate transfers rule to the SEC doesn't apply to him or isn't in effect or otherwise has some sort of loophole where he's going to Auburn. That almost certainly means Arik to Cal and big swing 'n a miss.

What's funny is that, had Armond not been able to transfer to Auburn as originally expected/reported, Armond would've been on campus at ND this weekend and more likely than not both of these guys are likely coming to ND. But it seems that's not the way things worked out. I still wish I knew whether Armond was actually cleared to transfer to ND or not... gut feeling says USC rescinded the pass after the Carlisle transfer. Because it was after his hearing this week with USC that all of a sudden everything changed with Armond's direction and the dominoes didn't fall as expected.

Oh well. You win some, you lose some. And our staff certainly tried their asses off.

I wouldn't say a need but definitely a want.
Go watch AI "We talkin about practice" and insert Cal for practice.

they are giving 110% percent the results just aren't completly there yet.

Here is the thing. I will commend them for going b*** out in trying to land studs like Arik, Nelson, Shaq, etc. They have proven that they can will some of those battles and lose some of the battles over the last two years.

The thing I don't like is that there is a chance Nd is going to be left holding the bag come signing day. I will be curious to see what/if changes will be made in their recruiting strategy for next year.

This is probably the one year i am OK with us missing on some key targets. They are bringing in some defensive line talent, some stud WRs, a very nice DB haul, especially if we can get Darby back in the fold or pickup Yuri. There is some O-line talent in this class, especially assuming we keep Decker. Schollies are tight this year, and if striking out on some of the A targets means bringing back guys like Golic who have versatility and will help our O-line this year I am OK with that. Looking at the depth chart, we are not in dire need at any one position, we just have some guys who fingers crossed will take the next step in the natural progression of an FBS player. Staff keeps getting after it and in another year or two we see the fruits of their labor on the field with consistent 9-10+ win seasons and a few BCS bowl games and we will start to land some more of the guys we are missing on right now.

That's a pretty important piece of this. We seem to be coming in second or a close third on a lot of top-tier guys. The staff works hard. And Notre Dame's got a lot to offer regardless of record. But at some point, I've got to think winning 10 games instead of 8 would help close the deal.

I'm hoping this may be a sign that we still have a chance with him.

A. Welcome aboard!

B. Please don't post premium info verbatim from other sites. This site can get in trouble for that.

C. That info is actually very old news (in today's world). It's pretty much well-known that Arik, barring a shocking announcement, will be at Cal tomorrow, unfortunately. I never got the vibe he was even serious about the Irish, so I never got my hopes up with him. However, I was proven wrong, as his interest was very sincere. But, hometown school probably wins out again...

Yeah, I wanted to write a big post discussing this... but figure it's just going to devolve into a lot of ridiculous arguing before signing day. When you look back at some of the guys we passed on with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight it's crazy... but I don't really think the coaches had a choice with how scholarship mechanics work at ND.

I agree with the limitations the schollie count put on this class. What I am looking for is how many guys they keep schollies for or slow play guys for. IMO, this class had 3 or 4 slots they were basically holding in case they would land one of these guys. But, with the class being smaller in size, that represented ~20% of the class.

I wonder if they will keep that same percentage in the coming years or if shrinks to 10-15%.

No source, but I believe with enough prayer photos he will drop an Irish bomb.
