He's solid.. This kid has been consistent with his word from day one. I don't expect a flip here. He wants a future outside of football and ND offers him his best options for that.

The thing is USC has ZERO available scholarships right now... this would be like us being at 22 commits and still pushing for 5the more guys. I just don't get it... why isn't there a media outlet somewhere railing on them for this? It's 10x worse than typical SEC oversigning.

Not so fast my friends...

A reputable poster (46 Defense) on II spoke with Darby last night. Said to not pay much heed to rumors of him leaving the fold. TIFWIW but the guy is connected on the national recruiting scene for those skeptics.

Willie James Huff, better known as funky chicken...This is exactly what I thought was the case and appreciate you dropping the knowledge...I remember a time not too long ago on the bang bang facebook group that Darby took offense to people giving Tee and Deontay crap for taking official visits to SC...He'll take his visits and I believe strongly that he'll remain Irish!

Whoever created that FB group needs to make it private to ND recruits only. The public should be allowed to read but NOT COMMENT on that page. I'm so sick of hearing/reading about people contacting recruits directly or indirectly through social media outlets and giving them a hard time. They're 17-18 yr old kids, stay out of it!

*Sorry for the rant*

But a couple could open up yet for them ... i.e. Barkley elects to go pro, etc.

I'm in the group. There are about 200 members and I would say 195 of them are respectful and encouraging to the recruits, wishing them luck, letting them know how excited everybody is to see them coming to ND etc. In reality, a lot of the times it is the players themselves reaching out to the people in the group for well wishes, comments etc. J Ferg just asked everybody yesterday to wish them luck in the AS game coming up. Whether you like it or not, social media is a big part of our society, for better or worse. Anytime you get a few hundred people together there is a going to be a few bad apples...99% of the players are smart enough to understand that and take any comments, etc with a grain of salt. By the way, the group IS private. Tee has to approve any membership so its not like anybody with facebook can just drop by real quick and spew hate.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware it was already private because I never considered joining in the first place. Regardless, it's just a personal pet peeve of mine and I'm glad to hear the vast majority of the group are respectful to these young kids.

Mr. Darby is solid. What 18 year old or 40 year old man would want to take in the finer aspects of a college visit to a Southern School or usc. lol

If I was getting recruited I would totally visit USC.
a. What red-blooded American wouldn't take a free trip to the left coast to get treated like a VIP?
b. I'd know that I'm solid Irish and I'm tying up USC's resources and keeping them from recruiting someone who I might be playing against for the next 3-4 years.
c. Who mentioned upper-deckering Lane's office? ;-)

I totally believe Darby is solid and has a good relationship with our coaches. The thing is I also believe we SHOULD be afraid of USC and Clemson. Clemson because they pull all kinds of funny business AND that is a really fun place that he is visiting for a 2nd time.

USC because Kiffin and EdO are ruthless. And they're liars. They tell kids USC is #1 in everything and whatever else they think they need to hear. And they'll do whatever they possibly can to steal Darby from us or just push him to another school.

I agree with you at IrishLax. He's been solid so far but a 2nd visit to a school gets my attention. (Clemson didn't get Herschel Walker because Georgia offered more).

USC just.....just....sucks.
