Has Epitome been banned yet?
Holy crap, thank god. Best of luck to the kid at LSU. Anyone who says ND is better off without him is bitter and ridiculous. He may not have been the answer but we're not better off without him.
Why are so many calling for Golson when nobody has seen him play college football? Just curious, not busting ***.
LSU is light years ahead of us.2 nc's and going for a third since 2003.The pieces are there to win big and win now.He could have been (hopefully) something special here at ND.
This will probably just sound like sour grapes, but I'm not upset that Kiel didn't go with the Irish. I would've obviously liked for him to commit, but I've never gotten caught up in Kielmania even when we were rumored to be in the lead. I really like Hendirx and I love Golson. I'd also be very happy if we landed Fuller in 2012 or Swoopes in 2013. I'm no expert, but I don't think Kiel is head and shoulders above any of those 4.
player. But I think it will be very interesting to follow his career. He might be the next Peyton Manning. Or he might never play a down for LSU and transfer to IU after 3 years. I guess we'll have to wait and see, because he has all of the measureables but has not really been battle tested to this point.I think the thing that I really don't understand is why any young man capable of thinking out beyond five years would ever commit to an SEC school not named 'Vanderbilt' or possibly 'Florida' when he had the option to go to a school where a degree was at the minimum worth the paper it was printed on. Just for fun I was looking up the majors of kids in the SEC championship game as they were mentioned by the commentators. I got through twelve kids before I saw one that wasn't majoring in "general studies." At least if a recruit commits to Michigan, or to Northwestern, or even Ohio State, there's some degree of potential for them to get a good education if they want it. The coach is committing to give them a scholarship for the years it takes for them to earn their degree and isn't going to take it from them just because the next best thing comes along. I understand that some kids don't want to go to the toughest academic school around. That's perfectly understandable. Stanford and Notre Dame are not for everyone. However, I would not hire an LSU general studies major to pump my gas. The NFL isn't a sure thing, and even if it were, the ultimate bankruptcy rate of NFL players is astounding. I get that LSU is winning right now. I understand that they have achieved this without a world beater at QB, and that Kiel has strong potential to be just such a world beater. But as they say, it's not a four year decision, it's a forty. And this is a decision I do not get.
Does anyone know what Blair does for a living?
Honest question...

Like others have said, this is not devastating. Do wonder how it will effect recruiting though.
As a fan, I want people at ND who want to be at ND. Gunner Kiel doesn't want to be at ND. With that in mind it's best that he not be at ND and we stop thinking about him.
Sure Kelly feels the same way. Plenty of sure thing quarterbacks have fallen by the wayside before, especially in the SEC. Kiel may or may not. I don't care now. I think Kelly is doing a great job and you're going to lose some recruiting battles--that is why they are called "battles".
Hendrix, Golson and possibly Fuller(?). Let the competition begin!
