I think one of the major reasons that Justin is ranked lower by some services has to do with his high school history & his geography-----he was a late HS transfer from PHILLY---his family moved to florida in his junior year i believe---so he was unable to build any early recognition from evaluators for the state of florida----so many players there are followed by the so called "experts" throughout their HS career---by the beginning of someones junior year the florida area evaluators already have a beat on who you are and where you rank among your class---

Since Justin showed up so late to that competition he was starting fro behid and simply slipped through the cracks---he did not pass as many players as he likely should of because they had been embedded in the top florida players lists for a couple of years before Justin broke on the scene.

Regardless, this kid has the tools to make himself as big as he wants to be...

per justin hopkins from semper fi bowl

- Flanagan (Fla.) wide receiver Justin Ferguson was solid all day today. He was able to continuously find the soft spot in the defense and used his great hands to reel in any pass thrown his direction. As timing continues to improve, Ferguson could emerge from this group as one of the top prospects from the event.

Can never have too many big receivers with good hands...especially at Justin's level.

so he'll have a great week of practice and then we'll hear rumors that he's decommitting...that's how the rest of the commits work at least.

I know our QB situation scares people. But, looking at our WR core most good/really good High school receivers should be excited to come here. Really we have Davarius and TJ. Toma is there too, but Davarius should take Floyd's role and the freshmen can fight for the other 1 or two spots. They can come in a play right away. I hope they all come.

Go Irish!

i'm not convinced if we land some of the receivers that we have on the radar that TJ won't be battling for playing time, regardless of his experience on the field.

Skill vs Talent. TJ will get some "push" from the young WRs coming in next year. It is up to him to turn the corner.

Looks like a lot of our "3 star" recruits are showing up big time. That's a testament to the current staff's ability to find underrated talent.

Giving reps to the staff is dangerous in these woods.

I happen to agree with you. I also think the staff is doing a great job with an influx of talent for their second full recruiting class and aside from the QB spot, have improved the program.

Haha I'm not worried about getting flamed on a message board. I'll speak my mind, and I'll speak it true. Opinionated arseholes be damned. (I happen to be one of them too at times)

No one has a clue what the QB spot is like talent wise as Hendrix (minimal PT) and Golson (no PT) haven't had a chance to really show us yet.

Giving the staff reps on the talent they are bringing in seems to be a no brainer though.
Can't wait for a real secondary to be in place. Then we can blitz away!

I think this kid isn't given the due he deserves. I think if he stays on board with Brown/Deontay we are set at WR for years. I love this crew of receivers. We got the speed/heigth/physicality Love it!!

Per 247, did not practice yesterday at Semper Fi. Was limping noticably. Appears to be an ankle injury, but no information on whether it's anything serious.

Hip Flexor, said nothing is going to stop him from playing.

Hip flexor injuries are what held back Armando Allen for most of his career at ND. Definitely not among the most serious injuries a football player can sustain, but I'll pray for his full recovery anyway.

He dropped two balls tonight, although one was knocked out by Tee, but the kid has a ton of upside. Needs to redshirt and get stronger though.

Agreed- he showed some promise for sure! I think a redshirt would help him tremendously. He needs to bulk up a little (what HS kid doesn't?) and also snag and tuck that ball away. Tee made a great play on him, but he probably shouldn't have let that happen. All in all, he showed a nice ability to get open which is half the battle.

Ferguson is around 6'1" and already over 200 pounds.

I wouldn't say he needs to bulk up when he's going to be pound for pound the stockiest receiver on the team as a true freshman.

Thank you, Rocket, for trying to be the reality police on this sort of thing. I look forward to that imagined day when everyone of our recruits are not immediately cited for having to put on more mass in order to play. Only if Kelly would recruit nothing but 400 lb Buddhas might this mantra stop though.

I disagree with Rocket and Mike here. He looked very small in the upper body last night. Aaron Taylor and Lemming both commented that he NEEDS to add upper body strength to his body during the broadcast.

Wasn't AA misdiagnosed? A hip flexor injury probably means his weight lifting routine is out of whack. This is not a concern.

Hearing that Ferguson is thin and Greenberry is a burner. I guess all that's left is a report that Brown needs to lose weight.
