That's true, and I really don't mind Wayne.

Other than him and Eminem, the rest of those guys you listed will be irrelevant in 2 years

Whereas Jay and Kanye have already been at or near the top for over 5 years

I enjoy listening to Jay and Kanye as well, but Wayne has been right up there at the top with them for a number of years now.

Thank God. I couldn't believe that he hadn't been mentioned yet.

It really depends on what you mean by most talented. As far as skill on their instrument in their style? Hendrix is almost certainly the most talented guitarist of all time but I never really liked his music. He was certainly a virtuoso. As is Keith Jarrett when playing Jazz piano. He's unreal. Should we be talking about Yo-Yo Ma?

McCartney has to be mentioned. He was good (but not great) on the guitar and at singing but the man was incredibly talented at song writing. Not to mention that along with Lennon, he led the most influential band in rock history.

PRINCE!!!!! Hands down.
Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Kenny G, Hendrix all deserve an honorable mention.

Lil Wayne

not even a top 10 rapper of all time... he makes music for money now, his earlier stuff was ten times better. His mainstream stuff is not rap at all, its pop. How to love? you serious? haha.

While Jay-Z and Kanye are both better than him, their new album is weird; however, I love n***s in Paris.

Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, Jay Z, Wu Tang Clan, NWA(yeah I know both groups), and maybe even the Game. Then comes Lil Wayne.

JMO of course though:eek:grin:

Straight up music though and not rap, I have to go with this guy

Yes, yes we should be.

It's really an impossible question without breaking it down to genres, places, and eras. How do you compare Eminem to Umm Kulthum or Bach to Dylan? For that matter, should Homer (of the Illiad and the Odyssey) be number one on the list? Or Muhammed? Both the Qur'an and the epic poems of the Greeks were designed to be recited, and both have been more influential then any name that's come up in this thread (laughing at lil wayne.)

Cobus is all self taught. He has by far best drum covers on the internet.

At the very least, I couldn't agree more with your first choice.

Hendrix on guitar. I have a tie between Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan for tops in song writing. Both are masterful.

I still think Miljenko Matijevic has some of the best vocals in rock history. His vocals were most of Mark Wahlberg's in Rockstar.

The song starts around minute 2 in the video.

Hendrix (master of the guitar)
80's Michael Jackson (revolutionized R+B/Pop)
Lennon (great songwriter and singer)
90's Garth Brooks (changed country)
Barry White (many men got laid thanks to him)

I am sure I am forgetting someone

I'm a guitarist myself so I can assure you Hendrix is the holy grail of rock guitar. He influenced every guitarist that came after him whether they admit to it or not.

What's sad is that nowadays most of the "most talented" musicians go completely unrecognized.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart would like to have a word with you.

You don't have to appreciate the music, but you have to recognize the talent.

Sure, but when you're being compared to Mozart, what does that say?

Tough to compare a modern musician to a classical composer, but someone like Macca certainly has done a lot more in terms of signing and playing instruments that Mozart never did or couldn't have played.
