See how the dominoes fall...

Elite OL (Stanley) > Top QB (Kiel) > Elite WR (Neal/ Agholor)...

Sorry you lost....

Well, it was worth the shot! LOL It was something to talk about about anyway, gave IrishInFL something to do today.

Your 25000 vbucks is in your account. Gotta get busy to pay IrishInFL off.

Congrats!

I think Westerkamp is next, followed by Kiel, Shumate, Garnett, Wright and then Neal.

If we take a 7th I think it is Ekanem.

Though this does make the class very heavy in WR and DB.

What's going on with Odenigbo? It has been real quiet on him lately.

Sounds like Stanford and NW for some reason. I'd like to pass on Ekanem because of his ACL tear but I know Kelly wouldn't do that. I think we stock up on LB and OL next year.

Ekanem wouldn't probably play next year anyways, so I can't see the injury as that big of an issue for us.

I'll be honest. I wouldn't have a problem at all if Kelly pulled Ekanem's scholarship offer after the injury.

Maybe Kelly could tell him that we have other players ahead of you if he wants to commit.

If Ken was already committed, I think it's pretty straight forward that you honor the scholarship. The fact that he had ample time to make a commitment and didn't means that Notre Dame doesn't inherently owe him anything just like he doesn't owe Notre Dame anything.

t3hjc's got it. I don't recall ND rejecting an injured verbal. ND could still pursue him if space is available but I don't think the numbers work out regardless. There's more people in play than there are available slots. Pulling the scholarship is senseless.

Well.... I still think that we need at least two linebackers in this class. It is true that this coming year we are loaded even if no one comes. [we will have something like twelve]. The following year, two, I believe will leave. That would mean ten left plus any frosh. The next year five would leave. leaving five guys currently on the roster plus whoever are sophomores. No juniors [Grace , Councell, and Rabasa would be seniors class-wise]. THAT is the year I'd be worrying about. Seems like a gamble to go with five senior vets and only sophomores who have only been on special teams [at best] to back them up. Two linebackers in this year's class would be juniors by then.

This feeling could be all wrong, but it just seems bad policy to skip years in positions of great importance and especially multiple playing positions. If there are two guys outside of Ekanem, OK [Odenigbo? Miles?]. If not, I say Ekanem may be very good to get a verbal from. [depending on how bad the damage was of course]. One key about this would be if VT is still interested in him. Bud Foster doesn't miss much.

Not agreeing with pulling back on this particular kid, but its one thing to drive a committed kid out if he gets injured (unless he was shopping around), it's another thing to take an open offer off the table.

These kids have to understand that there is no guarantee that you can have your cake and eat it to. The kids who committ early risk a bad fit, the kids who committ late risk getting left out in the cold.

We're still in it with Garnett, Russell, Armstead, Shaq, Rios, Neal and Payton for starters, and not altogether out yet with Adams or McNamara or Peat.
