Where does one look for a definition of "worthwhile"? Wouldn't want to offend anyone....

Geez guys, it's a message board..... It's not going to be perfect

AMEN.

First rule that needs to be brutally and mercilessly enforced on this board: if you don't have something worthwhile to add to the conversation, DON'T F*CKING POST.

One could argue posts like this are not worthwhile.....especially in the thread it is in.

Just saying

My post probably came off as arrogant, which wasn't what I intended.

The point was that many controversial posters here seem to compulsively post in virtually every thread even when they don't have anything substantive to add to the discussion. For instance, consider the baseless negativity that defines many commentators here. Without fail, they chime into recruiting threads with something like, "I really don't think this kid will end up Irish =(". When pressed for the basis of that opinion, they get defensive and lash out, effectively derailing whatever worthwhile discussion was taking place.

The vast majority of posts here get read and commented on. Thus, out of common courtesy, if one doesn't have anything substantive to add to the discussion, one should refrain from posting.

Just for fun [since there isn't a lot else to do here at the moment anyway]: If you were a college football coach and wanted to sign up a group of players who would lead your team 3-4 years from now, how would this look?
TE: (Ackerman?)
RT: Decker
RG: ...
C: Harrell
LG: Garnett
LT: Stanley
WR: Ferguson
WR: Greenberry
WR: Brown
RB: Mahone
QB: Kiel

DE: Jones
NT: Day
DE: Okwara
Cat: (Odenigbo?)
Will: Miles
Mike: ...
Dog: Baratti
CB: Shepard
CB: Darby/ Prosise
S: Turner
Slobberknocker: Badger

and you were not through yet. I think that this coach, whoever he might be, was doing pretty well.

And, imagine that time in the future (2014) when many of our old friends have graduated and our current playing freshmen and redshirt sophomores are the old men on the team. How would this be for a coach managing the future?

TE: Koyack and Ackerman or Welch 5th year
RT: Prestwood and Decker
RG: Lombard, 5th year and Hanratty
C: Hegarty and Harrell
LG: NMartin and Garnett
LT: Stanley and Elmer
WR: Daniels and Ferguson and Greenberry
and Brown and McDaniel and Neal?
RB: GAIII and Mahone
QB: Hendrix and Golson and Kiel

DE: Lynch and Hounshell
NT: Nix, 5th year and Day and Springmann
DE: Tuitt and Jones and Okwara
Cat: Williams ... and Odenigbo?
Mike: Grace and Rabasa
Will: Niklas and Miles or Moore,5th year
Dog: Councell and Baratti
CB: Shepard and Darby; Atkinson [nickel],; Prosise and Brown.
S: Badger and Hardy; Turner and Collinsworth, 5th year.

Team might play. Last year for the three great D-Linemen, but juniors behind them and the whole offense nearly back for the following year.

Coach is seeing the future.

This post should be copied and pasted the next time some joker says BK can't recruit. I think this makes it clear that he indeed can.

Now i see up there we have Koyack starting. Have we come to the conclusion if he has potential?

We all know that "high school experience doesn't translate."

However rumor has it since leaving this board mbecha has been providing him Phd strength guidance that will overcome any shortcoming in potential.

I'm w/ you ... I'd be PLEASENTLY surprised if Armstead goes Irish. My guess would be Westerkamp is next to commit Irish.

you are not in the minority at all...that would be a complete shock right now.

my guess is that stanley is next, but i'm not sure if it's going to be soon.

I have a feeling Ronnie Stanley will be our next commit. I was reading some news articles and came upon the following statements.

How do you know Ronnie Stanley committed to ND? I dont see that being reported anywhere else....

From what I gather, he is a silent commit as of last night. Some people held out hope we could pull off the upset here but his weekend visit to ND seemed to have closed the deal--I could be wrong but the indication is, he's ND now.
