I would rather play F$U than UVA. UVA is a much better coached team and would be a tougher game. I have seen them play a couple of times this year and they have play a lot better as the year has gone on.

I don't want anything to do with Georgia Tech.

The same concerns anyone has about Florida State's athleticism could've been said about Miami last year.

About FSU: this is really premature, but FSU has been a team which has to romp the opponent to win. In all their close games but one [Miami] they have lost. They also have to run the ball which they cannot always do. If they depend upon a big day by a receiver, they have lost. EJ Manuel is supposedly the overwhelming key to their success. As a mobile QB, that should bother us. But he has basically stopped running wild during the latter half of the season and his TD/INT ratio has markedly bettered [translation: although he still runs, it is more "last resort" and for fewer YPC; and he's more "traditional" now]. Some of that may be due to lingering effects of the Oklahoma injury, but conversely a bowl game gives a lot of healing time. Manuel's horrible TD/INT ratio of the early half of the year has gotten way better.

All-in-all FSU reminds me of a typical young roster full of high-octane studs who have to get out in front and strut to roll and win. Their senior leadership may be lacking. Their QB may have enough of his own problems to be an effective leader. In a real fist-fight they seem to find ways to lose.

You don't start to bring back your program with a bowl win over UVA. FSU gives us some legitimate credibility and momentum.

Don't want anything to do with GT tho :p

What about Tech? Everyone is ignoring that Tech could EASILY lose to UVa this weekend and end up #3 in their conference.

I'd much rather play Tech, UVa, or GT over FSU. GT doesn't have a defense that can stop us, UVa is a run-first team we can shut down, and Tech is good but not nearly as good as the top 5 ranking they have now. They have played one of the most cupcake schedules I have ever seen this year and aren't as strong on defense as usual.

FSU has the talent to blow people out when they're "on"... their problem is an incredible amount of mistakes and inconsistent QB play without a staunch running game. But WE ALL KNOW FAR TOO WELL that teams ROUTINELY bring their A game against ND. Especially if Florida State ends up with 5 losses after playing UF, I would really not like to play them.

Tech losing doesn't make them the ACC 3rd pick, they might be 3rd place, but they won't be the 3rd selection in the bowl process. Half those other teams would get selected over Virginia even if Virginia loses in the ACC championship.

As far as FSU, sounds a lot like a team we all know and love...ahem.

As for not wanting to play FSU, I find it amusing that you guys are so rahrah about trying to weasel into a BCS game, but are afraid of an ACC team with zero credibility.

Phork we finally agree on something. I'll play FSU. Sure, they could put it together and beat us, but so could those other teams. I say bring 'em on.

The last 3 seasons FSU was clicking on all cylinders in their bowl, and blew out a favored opponent. This would be a great test, regardless of the Creminoles record going in.

As much as I do agree with most of what u said I don't feel that people look at GT as a legit football power anymore. As wrong as it may be I feel people look at it as a gimmicky type of offense and wouldn't consider it a good win. I don't need to see Navy w/ NFL athletes thats not what I need to spend the holidays thinkn about.

"Either that or they are thinking that a 9-3 Big East team that's ranked is a better selection for them than a 8-4 Notre Dame team that is not."

Beat Stanford: 9-3. Case closed.

that guy says we only have to be in the top 18. Sweet

There is no way Champs takes Rutgers. This game could be a total wipe out and we'll be in.

It's 14. You can expand the pool to 18 if there aren't ten teams within the top 14 that don't have 9 wins. That isn't the case this year (it almost never is), so it's top 14.

And now ND will definitely play FSU? With Hendrix, I like our chances better in a bowl game against FSU. With Rees, not so much.

I don't know. Champs is supposed to get the BE #2 and the ACC #3. But the pundits have widely had ND going instead of a BE team.

Louisville is only 7-5 but their 5-2 conference record leads the BE. Rutgers was supposedly under consideration for Champs but they lost badly by 28 Saturday to UCon to drop to 8-4 same as ND. WVU is 8-3, 4-2 with a win next week against USF could tie UL at 5-2. But UL won the head to head. Would Champs have to take a 9-3 WVU over ND? I recall Rodriguez going ballistic a few years ago when ND was selected for a BE slot over WVU. Cincinnati won Saturday to go to 8-3 and could also tie for first at 5-2 wiht a win over UCon next week. They also could finish 9-3. I would think Champs would rather have ND fans to sell tickets to that UC's or WVU's. Life would be simple with a Ucon win over UC and USF win over WVU next week.

On the ACC side. Clemson and VT will play for their championship. FSU won to go to 8-4 today while UVA and GT both lost to fall to 8-4. However, UVA beat both FSU and GT head to head. I'm sure the Champs folks would rather have FSU fans in their seats than UVA or GT. I suspect GT would travel well but don't think the Wahoos have the same reputation but that's perception not based on past ticket sales.

As long as ND is bowl eligible Champs will take us. Its the last year of their 4 year cycle. ND vs FSU is too juicy a match up to pass up.
