Based on what you've seen, who's the answer? Only on what you've seen? You can't answer that because we've only seen Hendrix a hand full of plays, Crist blows and is out of here (thank goodness) and we have no idea what Golston is yet.

You answered your own question. It's a mystery, and that's the precise reason that I didn't make a prediction on who would actually be the QB. From what I've seen from Tommy, however, I hope that we find someone better.

You said he wouldn't be the best option next year? Based on what? What have you seen from the others to tell you that?

I answered the question as Tommy vs. the field, and I took the field based on what I've seen from Tommy. It's not unreasonable to do so; I don't need to know the entire field to choose them over one player.

I'd much rather see BK take "a shot in the dark" with Hendrix or Golson than have to watch the mediocrity of Rees next year.. but that's just me

Please just stop, you're becoming an old joke. You already got caught contradicting yourself regarding Trent Dilfer.

HereComeTheIrish.. you remind me of Skip Bayless supporting Tim Tebow lol.. all the evidence is there that the dude is not good, yet he keeps winning.. much like Tebow isn't a good NFL QB, Rees should not be starting at a program like ND but rather somewhere like Toledo or something.. however, he keeps winning so your opinions hold some weight but I just hope he isn't our QB for 2012.. I really, really hope not

Are you kidding me? That vast majority of posters think it's ridiculous to point to Tommy's record as an indication of his performance.

Haven't gotten that impression. I'll continue to monitor the situation. by the way...

12-2!!!!

I highly doubt that he'll get much bigger physically. In person, he just has a small frame and his arm strength and mobility are pretty much at their ceiling. So I'm with you- I don't think he'll be the best QB next spring.

...I don't think he suddenly gets faster, and even if he did, he isn't elusive, but he can get thicker, stronger...and that does translate to throwing (unless you throw like Tebow) Will he be Elway...no, but his throws could look more like Quinn than you ever thought possible...not saying he will, but I've seen some amazing jumps...lets see what he does...

Even then...I think his fate falls in the hands of the receivers...who will be Floyd when Floyd is gone?

as I said, I think that forces Kelly's hand to a mobile QB.

Ok. Based on what I saw I can understand why someone might question some of the play calls, but it seems like saying "F U" about it is a little strong. Play calling is more art than science. It's hard to be perfect all the time. He would have had to have given the student section the finger in order to justify the "F U."[/QUOTE]

Exactly

My two biggest worries about next year are CB and WR. Outside of floyd our WR's are just average and I think they have a hard time getting open. Yes our TE's are good but that doesn't make up for the average WR's.

We won. We never trailed.

This is more than good enough for me after seeing everything else that has happened in college football this weekend. #2, #4, #5, and #7 all go down with many of the SEC teams struggling against vastly inferior opponents (Georgia Southern put up a fight against Bama, UGA vs Kentucky, Auburn struggled against SAMFORD, and South Carolina had a tough time against The Citadel for a while.) College football is a weird sport and I am more than happy that we pulled off a win.

Too close for my tastes. But a win as a win. Need to pull numerous rabbits out of hats next week to beat Stanford.

I know Florida isn't that good this year but they almost got beat by Furhman. It was one score game up until the last few minutes.

Also,

From Keith Arnold of Notre Dame Central at msnbc.com:
"Putting Bob Diaco‘s defense in a bad position is certainly nothing new. And with what seems like half the Irish defense in sick bay heading into the game — Stephon Tuitt missed the game from illness, Robert Blanton sat out two days this week with the flu, and Harrison Smith spent last night in the infirmary on an IV — the Irish did what they had to do, hold a struggling Eagles offense when the offense couldn’t get on track."

Exactly. Sometimes I think a lot of our fans lack perspective. I get the idea of striving for perfection, but you have to understand that you're never going to be perfect. Stuff happens - that is the nature of the game. Do not underestimate the value of winning when you don't have your best day, especially against a team like BC that has been a major pain in the *** over the years.

#NotreDame S Harrison Smith on student section marshmallow tosses: "That was kind of pissing me off, to be honest. That needs to stop."

What was this about?

What was this about?

"Tradition"

Students have a marshmallow fight on Senior Day. I think it used to be a tolerated thing but apparently over the years it was "restricted" by the ushers. Now it's a covert operation.

Somebody commented in the game thread about things being thrown on the field, I didn't see it. I suppose it's like the snow ball fight at the Syracuse (?) game, also a Senior Day. When it's kept among the students it's playtime but when thrown on the field, objectionable.

Kelly commented on the injuries/sick in the post game, I think he had Zack Martin and somebody else (other than Jonas) banged up or sick on offense. Did the Hammond and Myock mention them at all?

Folks,
Face a coupole realities. First, Tommy Rees is a MAC level QB and you folks are accepting him being our QB. He has reached his ceiling and it is reachable by any avg D-1 player. For all you folks saying I just hate on Tommy. You are right in the fact I do not accept mediocre. He is sooo average it is pathetic. BC figured out really quick how to stop our AVERAGE QB. Rush 2-3 players and drop 8-9. Our QB can't beat anybody with his legs and surely can't overwhelm with his arm.
Second, our pass defense is sooo average. Luck has to be salivating for next week. He will shred us.

Brent Musberger? Is that you!?

Why is Rees still in the game? Why is he even on scholarship? I partly blame him for Jonas' injury. Tommy is an unathletic pussy that literally can't do anything. His lack of talent at anything is enraging. BK's play calling has been garbage once again and Tommy Rees is the worst QB we've had in a very long time. Maybe even worse than Pat Dillingham. We are going to get smacked by stanford and who ever we play in a bowl. We might win 4 games next year. 2 if tommy plays.

I am curious to know what your opinion on Tommy Rees is?
