Isn't Andrew Hendrix in Pre-Med?

seems like we should push that....

gonna be a tough pull from the west coast...if we can steal banner then this becomes a bigger possibility doesnt it? haven't they hinted at wanting to play together?

Ya they do. Banner and Garnett are tough to call right now.

Notre Dame has one of the best preprofessional programs in the nation, but touting academics against Stanford probably doesn't work well.

Obviously, I know nothing about what kids major in at Stanford, but the fact we have a kid already going through the Pre-Med program is still a selling point. Someone that Garnett could have as a "mentor" so to speak.

ESPN Insider

Garnett talks Stanford unofficial - On The Trail Blog - ESPN

Second time visiting Stanford this was another unofficial.

The biggest thing that stands out to him are the relationships he has with the players.

Garnett stated that early playing time is a big issue for him and Stanford can accomodate that since they play 8-9 lineman a game. He said he just has to crack the rotation.

The most important thing he is looking at in a school is academics.

I don’t want to sacrifice a quality football program for a good degree but at Stanford, you can really get the best of both worlds so it’s a good fit.”

Visits

Michigan - this week for OSU
Notre Dame - in December - possibly the 2nd
Oklahoma - not locked in but banquet weekend December 16th
Miami - the week after the Under Armour game maybe January 13th
Last visit may be to a West Coast school but no guarantee

Looking at Stanford - Cal - Washington out west plus USC and Oregon a lil.

Decision in mid-January. Will not wait til NSD. Taking notes and compiling info and will decide the best spot for him.

Stanford will not stay good for very long. They are going to sink back down to the world of .500 in T-minus 2 games and counting.

Michigan/Ohio State game

"I'm expecting to see a great football program compete, and I want to see how football is played in Michigan. I'm excited to see a future school that I could be attending."

I hate Michigan. They have literally played no one this year and Hokes first year just happens to be one of the worst years for competition in the B10. If this team played in the old Big Ten when OSU was actually good than they would not have the same season. Ugh...

Perhaps.

Losing Andrew Luck will hurt, but they've also recruited well (Leuders, Lyons, Davis, etc.).

I know, but as ND fans, we all know that talent is not enough. Harbaugh instilled a tenacity that, in my opinion, will dissipate over the next few years. He really seems to be a unique coach in that regard.

they'll beat ohio st and end up in a bcs bowl...then hopefully get drilled, but either way things could not have gone much better for michigan this year.

This year for Hoke = year 1 for Weis. They might keep it going through next year (doubtful, but possible) but after that when they try to roll out a team of all underclassmen in 2013 it could get ugly. Really, really ugly.

The other thing to note is they have absolutely no "studs" right now in terms of 5:s: recruits. They do have some very, very good 4:s: guys but Hoke will have to close strong for this class to be labeled anything close to special. Right now they are rated high because they have 24 commits while most other schools have something like 15. That all changes if they land some total longshot like Stefon Diggs.

Unfortunately, I don't think so.

They've made huge strides, they're recruiting exceptionally well, and they have two excellent coordinators.

Right, because Weis' classes weren't ranked exceptionally well...... and Charlie Weis wasn't a good offensive coordinator either.....

I will give you that Mattison has a good track record and that is one big difference (on paper). But let's ND's 3-9 team actually played pretty darn solid defense. I don't want to derail Garnett's thread so I'll cut it short here, but this team is going to have some big shoes to fill on defense and the OL after the next two years and there isn't anyone currently on the roster that can fill them. This helps with recruiting because they can promise early PT, but it will hurt them on the field.

If they're able to bring in another elite OL prospect (Banner or Garnett) with a 5* back like Dunn, it becomes a special class quickly. That would be a stout OL in 2-3 years blocking for a beast RB. This board would be going nuts if we had that OL haul.

They also have to be considered the favorite for Peyton. WHEN they beat OSU this weekend, it could only get worse. I agree with you that things need to fall into place for this class to be special but the pieces are certainly there.

Well said.

It's out of our hands. We just need to hope that BK and staff get the job done with this class.
