1. Maryland probably has the coolest state flag around... and I actually like those unis on some levels.
2. This team is better than their record, but not by much. They have some speed on offense but their big issue is that their defense wears down extremely quickly and then ends up getting gashed in the later phases of the game. As long as we don't give up some early scores to give them confidence I don't see them beating us.3. Last week they played UVa at home and didn't even half fill the stands... and went on to give up some serious second half points and lose big. I'm really not too worried about them getting "up" for the game when they couldn't get up for a rival.
4. It's going to be interesting to see if there are more ND fans at this game than Maryland fans.

Sounds a lot like Wake Forest really.

Not really.

Actually it does based on the pregame ntoes of ESPN and Inside the Irish.

Both mentioned the speed of Wake Forest, namely Orville Reynolds who many expected to see action(and did).

Also, most of the previews expected Wake Forest to get worn down and not be able to macthup as the game wore on, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Is/was Wake "better than their record"? Most likely not but really everything else in bold holds true.

But thanks for the constructive response...........................

The Maryland QB Danny O'Brien played high school ball a few miles from me. He's got some game. He was apparently looked at briefly by Notre Dame but was more seriously looked at by Notre Dame basketball.

His family are big time Notre Dame fans. His grandparents honeymooned in South Bend. LOL

His family is definitely pulling for Maryland tomorrow but will save 1% for Notre Dame.

Maryland can be dangerous, we can't take them lightly, especially with the injuries we have.

they key is to come out passive and sit back and watch o'brien pick us apart w/o any pressure.

Week 11: Did you know? - Notre Dame Football Blog - ESPN

Week 11: Did you know?
November, 11, 2011

By Matt Fortuna
Thanks to Notre Dame's sports information group for these nuggets:

Notre Dame is one of 10 FBS schools that ranks in the top 40 in total offense, total defense, scoring offense and scoring defense.
The Irish have allowed just five sacks this season, tied for fifth-fewest in nation. Oklahoma and Middle Tennessee State are the only schools with fewer sacks, but more pass attempts.
Notre Dame has 15 touchdowns in its past 17 red zone trips (.882) during its past four games, its highest percentage over any four-game stretch since since Oct. 14-Nov. 11, 2000. Then, the Irish scored 10 touchdowns on 11 red zone trips (.909).
Notre Dame has won three straight road games for the first time since 2006.
The Irish have played once before at FedEx Field, beating Navy 30-0 on Nov. 30, 1998, when it was known as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium.
Notre Dame has played Maryland once before, beating the Terrapins 22-0 on Aug. 31, 2002 at Giants Stadium.

It's all part of their Shamrock Series branding. Not sure if it's been done before.

This game has been tabbed "The Ugly Helmet Bowl"

I like the new irish helmet for this game, can't say the same for the "pride" helmet from Maryland.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this game be very close or even have the Terps win. I think this is going to be their "bowl game" after that atrocious second half versus Virginia. I expect them to be really, really fired up.

ND 28 UMD 24 is what I'm going with. Could easily end up being a total blowout win, but I think Maryland starts hot and tries to hold on... but eventually our running game proves to be too much.

That is pretty much exactly how I see it playing out, sadly.

i pray to God we get the ball first and can score a TD. i will have a very hard time watching Maryland march right down the field w/o any pressure to begin the game.

I'm in dc for the gameand opted for the metro instead of tailgating. Can anyone tell me of any cool pubs to have a few near the blue metro line..

Thanks in advance

normally i don't say things like this, but boy do i have a bad feeling about this one, we have GOT to come out firing on all cylinders, this is Maryland's biggest game, they're wearing their crazy pride jerseys, its the seniors last chance to get a signature win, i think ND will win, but it'll be closer than expected, i would take the under on this one

The Exchange is the "ND bar" of DC and should be rocking... kinda forget how far it is from any of the blue line stops.

I'm currently debating between driving down or taking the Metro from Arlington.

EDIT: link to the bar if you want to look how close it is to your metro stops... I've gotta run to lunch Welcome to the Exchange Saloon!

Its good to see that we have confidence in our team:sigh:

On paper, we should dominate Maryland.

For the past decade if not longer, we have consistently played down to our opponent...while opponents have played lights out against us. I believe that is why some have tempered their expectations.

We will win if we don't turn the ball over and if we have a balanced attack on offense. Simple as that. Our offense is much better than their defense. Our defense should be able to control the line of scrimmage and thus limit Maryland's running attack. If Maryland somehow manages to run the ball on us, we are in for a dogfight.

My prediction ND 34 MD 24. Go Irish!!
