Here's the schedule and spread for the teams that got votes in the last Coaches Poll. I included all teams that got votes as they're IN the Coaches Poll although not necessarily in the Top 25.

The Rank, Team, W/L, and Points are from the last Poll and This Week's Opponent and the Spread. Where this week's games have been decided I'll update the W/L to show the new record based on this week game. Note: VT is 9W-1 as they won Thursday night improving their record to 9-1. GT who they beat is now 7-3L showing their current record is 7-3. Depending on how they teams do that were ranked below them, they should drop out of the Top 25.

The only underdogs this week, if I transferred the numbers correctly, are #6 ORE, #13 PSU, #22 KSU, #24 TCU, and #25 AUB. IF Vegas is right and they lose while #28 ND wins, The Irish move into the Coaches Poll Top 25 as #19, #22, #24, and #25 would drop.

PSU may get thrown off the planet this week but 77-0 whipping to Nebraska isn't going to drop them 14 slots out of the polls. (The writers might delete PSU this week but the coaches won't).

MSU, SCA (the other USC), NEB, UC, UTX, and UM all are expected to have close games (-3.5 is the max spread). ND could use some help from Navy to overcome a 9 pt spread against USM.

ASU and FSU probably stay ahead of ND should they prevail. OSU shouldn't jump ND with a win over PU. UW with a win over USC would trump the Irish.

There could be a lot of movement in the poll from #12 down. ND could crack the teens. If MIA and A&M beat their higher ranked foes (FSU and KSU respectively) neither should jump a 7-3 ND as they both have 4 losses already.

I will not be continuously updating scores like I do the ND OPPONENTS Thread as there are too many games to follow. I intend on watching some. I'll try and update Final Scores periodically.

Let me know if you see any errors.

Any voter who would put Florida State ahead of ND this year should have their credentials revoked. They may have the weakest 6 wins of any ranked team in the history of the sport.

Other than Michigan State (6-2), our other wins are over teams that are:

5-4 (Wake)
5-4 (AF)
4-5 (Pitt)
4-5 (Purdue)
3-6 (Navy)

If we beat BC and Maryland, Maryland will be 2-8 and BC will likely be the same going into our game, or 2-9 after next week. Both teams may very well end 2-10.

PSU has wins over Northwestern, who would probably be favored over everyone but MSU. Iowa would be the same. Of course, this will resolve itself in the next three weeks.

I get all that. My point wasn't that ND's schedule has been impossibly hard, just that Florida State's has been laughably weak. FSU's 6 wins are against teams that have combined for 14 wins, and only 5 of those were against BCS teams. That is horrible. ND's 6 wins are against teams that have combined for 27 wins, 13 against BCS opponents. Not incredible, but clearly better than FSU. Also, FSU has not beaten anyone close to as good as Michigan State. They lost to Wake Forrest, who ND beat.

I just don't think you could make a valid argument at this point that FSU is better than Notre Dame (probably many teams ranked behind them, to be fair).

GA Tech lost yesterday so there's a step in the right direction.

Nice work, BGIF. This is exactly the kind of thinking I have going into the weekend and it makes it easy when someone like you takes the initiative and puts this together. 5 star post especially since it was done before 5 am. Not sure if that is the beginning or end of your day but either way it's quality stuff. Thank you!

My only recommendation that I see on other boards is the use of USCe and USCw. South Carolina was the original USC plus it hurts the Trojans feelings.

ND Should Be In The Coaches Top 25 Tomorrow.

ND Should Be In The Coaches Top 25 Tomorrow.

The LOSSES
#2 SU 9-1
#5 BSU 8-1
#12 PSU 8-2
#18 UC 7-2
#19 GT 7-3
#20 UTX 6-3
#25 AUB 6-4
#29 OSU 6-4
#30 UW 6-4

#23 USM 9-1 won when 9 pt underdog UCF missed a 2 pt conversion at the end of the game. ND could jump them.

#26 ASU leads 13-9 in the 2Q and had more than twice the votes ND had last week. They also beat USC which ND didn't. I suspect they will rise and hold their lead over ND.

That should be 3 (GT, UTX, AUB) , maybe 5 (UC & USM), slots available. ASU, FSU, and ND should all move in to the Top 25.

The only team that might jump ND would be WVU as a BE replacement if UC falls out.

I'm realizing that if LSU plays Georgia in the SEC championship game and loses, Alabama could be in the title game even though they are not the SEC champ. I think that has happened before as well.

Even worse, LSU could win and we could see a rematch of LSU/Ala. I'm hoping that OKSt. can continue winning. Or, maybe Auburn can get up for their rivalry game against Alabama to end the year.
