I'll take him if he commits. I just don't know where the hell we're going to play all these new DEs.

Well, hopefully they'll be in a rotation that switches frequently on account of the tiring number of sacks they keep pulling down.

I'm pretty sure Ishaq is slated to be an OLB in our defense. Almost 100% sure. He has the frame, so if he adds the weight he could naturally slide into a DE slot though.

BGIF is on a roll! Banned the troll, altered some comments. Woot Woot!

Since February richochet has posted in this thread to that effect several times and with a basis to his position. He refers to comments made from those he knows in the family training business that Williams doesn't have the frame for a 280 -290 3-4 DE but could bulk up to a 3-4 OLB. richochet notes Williams is built more like a basketball player. See his posts for his exact words.

Correction!
I don't "alter comments". I deleted inappropriate ones and sent the poster a PM where warranted. Those posters that persist find themselves deleted, sometimes for a short span, sometimes permanently.

I stand corrected. He doesn't look like he can add the weight to play DE in our scheme. 4-3 DE, maybe. My mistake.

One would think Williams and French are going for the same open spot? We have good shots with G. Atkinson and Daniels at WR...

If thats the case, first come, first served.

Wow, shocked to see the Irish in his top 3. ND would be loaded at DE if he chose the Irish.

As long as it's not Penn State!

If we get this young man, Daniels, and the Atkinson brothers I'll be one happy domer.

Wow, doesn't it always seem like some people have so much on their plate. Attending your brothers funeral and then taking the SAT the following day, I'd have blown that off when I was a kid which shows his maturity and focus.

Good luck with all you do Ishaq.

Aside from his raw athletic ability, I would love to get this kid in an Irish uniform for so many reasons. Kid seems like he just has a ton of heart and dedication. Im excited that we are in his top 3 but I wish him luck even if the Irish do not prevail.

He goes to the same high school that Jesus Shuttlesworth did.

For those who were curious about his frame and weight, there's almost a full length shot of him with this article.

I think this kid has the perfect frame for an OLB in this system or any system for that matter. Certainly would do alot to help our team speed and athletic ability.

ND in iShaq's top 3

Penn State, Notre Dame and Alabama

Penn State has one of the worst recruiting classes I've ever seen thus far.

Bama is tough to beat

Bama wants him as a DE, ND as an OLB, and PSU said either offense or defense

I read that on Farrel's thing but i could have sworn that Bama saw him at OLB as well

Bama wants him as a DE? I dunno about that. Their 3-4 wants DEs even bigger than ours.

Its going to be a really tough get in my mind. Penn State is going to put most of their eggs in this basket due to their terrible class. They need a big name and they need one quick. PSU is going to be a huge contender. Im glad to see us in his top three and its very encouraging that he came to see us on his own dime. This guy would be an elite addition to our 3-4

It sounds like we are in good shape with him. His Dad posted a highlight thread for him on YouTube and had this to say regarding their August visit:

"the visit was GREAT! i was really blown away w/ the structure, the tradition, and the expertise of the staff. the head coach is a winner for sure. i wouldn't be surprised if he chose the irish one bit. he is getting his top five list together."

YouTube - '09 defensive highlights.avi

I also thought this was an interesting read that I had not seen posted on here yet regarding Williams and his Notre Dame visit:

NBC Sports - College Football - Inside the Irish

This kid would be a great get by this coaching staff as he seems ideal fit as an 3-4 OLB with his size and 4.6 speed.

According to ESPN today, Ishaq has set OVs for Penn State, Alabama and Notre Dame. Insider Article so I can't read the rest.

Do you have a link to the article on ESPN for Ishaq? I have insiders but couldn't find anything on him today.

Our defensive front seven will be pretty sweet, but even more amazing if he joined up and we kept everybody.

Now only if we could get some more DBs.

Visit dates are NOT set:

Although the dates have not been set, four-star defensive end Ishaq Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) will take official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame and Penn State.

"Those three are definite," Abraham Lincoln coach Shawn O'Connor said. "Right now he plans on taking five, but if he sees something he likes it could be just three."

If Williams does take all five official visits, O'Connor said USC, Syracuse, Stanford, Miami, Rutgers and Connecticut are the other schools Williams is still considering.
