Those saying Tommy has been good this year obviously haven't been to a game live to see how many reads and open receivers he misses where a potentially 25 yard play to Riddick, or eifert or a RB out of the backfield turns into 3 yards to Michael Floyd with 2 guys hanging on him.

If you're just watching on TV and can't see all that, the argument changes. He gets an upgrade from dreadful to average at what BK asks him to do, but the problem then becomes that we cant really ask him to do much outside of 10-15 yards.

As a quick follow up and how it relates to Gunner in this thread, Gunner has the potential to be everything Tommy isn't. He can get the ball vertical, he is mobile and would pose at least somewhat of a threat on the read option keep. He seems to always find the open man, his ball placement is excellent, he can make all the throws whichout having to exert a full windup to get some zip on the ball. If we were able to land Gunner, we would be in VERY good hands over the next 5 years between him and the guys already on campus.

This is stupid for the simple fact that it ignores that much of this applies to nearly every quarterback in the country. You'd have to be ignorant of the struggles most programs have with the quarterback position to complain like we do. A lot of teams would kill for the production we get, relative to what you see out of most of the country.

Some people who dont want a 5 star qb? Cause the QB is a strength of are team? Give me a break. We are undefeated if the QB doesnt turn the ball over. Not bashing i love Rees but please dont act like you would pass on a 5 star qB cause we are so strong at the QB position. smh

Let's say Gunner ends up Irish. By the time that Gunner sees the field, Tommy will have graduated. So to you dreamers, Gunner isn't the short term solution to our QB problems. You never want to put a true freshman at QB unless he is unbelievable. The knowledge base of a true freshman QB is just not good enough to run the offense adequately. It takes time. If Tommy isn't the solution next year, I hope Hendrix or/and Golson will step up. These guys should be ready come next year.

I hope that Gunner will be the long term solution, though. He has the potential to be great at the college level and beyond.
You never pass up on the top rated QB, I don't care what our depth chart looks like.

Any discussion on Kiel? This is HIS thread.

There are multiple threads on Crist, Rees, Hendrix, Golson, QB PT, Turnovers, Games Lost/Won, etc, etc for those of you obsessed with the same urinating contests. People click on this thread expecting updates on Kiel not the same banal banter from the ADHD crowd.

This should all boil down to one simple sentence: You welcome the #1 QB in the country with OPEN ARMS!

Kiel is being very quite so far which is not a bad thing. He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. And would be a great recruit to get.

Kiel was quiet before committing to Indiana. He is a quiet kid when it comes to the recruiting process.

My thoughts on Gunner are this- I hope he comes to a decision in the very near future and that it is in fact Notre Dame. That could help us with some other elite undecided recruits. If he decides to go elsewhere, then again I wish it would just come out.

Lemming states the BK is personally recruiting Gunner, per Bob Wieneke's twitter (writer for South Bend Tribune and Irish Sports Report).

Comfort level seems like it is an especially big factor for Gunner, so this is very wise on Kelly's part. If they don't click, it probably was not meant to be.

He seems like a good kid, once again, I hope we get him.

Definitely appears to be a good sign. Certainly could help getting a few more playmakers and hanging on to the ones we already have.

Was his previous visit his OV? If not, would this be his OV because the Maryland game is supposed to be a home game for us?

This would be an unofficial visit

His visit to the USC game was also an unofficial. I believe even though it is a "home game" it would still not be an official visit. The point of the official visit is to see the campus and facilities and learn about it......not FedEx Field.
