The sportsbeat 960 twitter account is Darin Pritchett. The guy is a total tool bag. Eric Hansen is on the show the first hour with some decent info after that it's just Darin still complaining about how Dayne Crist should still be our starter.

I'd be excited to have Perkins if he wants to come, but I have always thought of him in the same category as Steve Filer.

Yes this. Exactly what I thought of him. Athletic freak but will probably never start

Would not go that far. You have no idea how someone will develop. He could end up being a total stud, but I do understand where you're coming from. He's a tweener and often tweeners have a tough time really finding a spot to start.

He is a DOG correct? He'd be behind Niklas for at least 3 and maybe Councell not to mention possibly other studs like Jaylon Smith Of 2013

Decos are inevitable, and some of those who are justifying him backing out in their own minds by questioning his potential sound like sour grapes. It happens, fight another day. Perkins was a big get, and he is a big loss. Good luck to him.

Excuses, excuses.

If it was mutual, then I trust the staff.

Exactly. I hate when people immediately jump to making excuses. Sometimes I get lulled into a false sense of pride about our fan base... thinking that only Michigan's (or any other rival's) fans would jump immediately to the 'we didn't want him anyway' excuse... followed, of course, by every other excuse in the book.

Almost every one of the possibilities discussed above is possible... and it's possible that we will fill David's shoes with a better player... but it's also possible that we'll end up scrambling and getting another Bruce Heggie at the end of the cycle*.

Let's be serious guys. This kid was talented. Let's all hope that this was mutual and that the staff knows how they'll fill his spot.

*No offense to the people's champion was intended.

I don't think its making excuses to say that it is not easy to project where Perkins would play in Diaco's defense. We recruit huge MLBs (240+) and long OLBs (6'4"+). He'd have to play OLB, but it would seem to be be less than ideal.

LSU, on the other hand, recruits LBs that are Perkins size. Their SAMs are about 210 and WLLs are about 220. LSU is much better than us. That does not make their LBs any better fit for our system.

Best of luck to Perkins, as long as he does not go to MSU.
