Damn, let me know to never say anything bad about ND. I'll get called a terrible person. lol
I honestly don't know Joe at all let alone to enough to label him an awful person.
As for the article, I don't know what he could be referring to as the treatment his son got.
I don't know the details Joe doesn't want to discuss but his son was a walk-on. A walk-on who left school to get some playing time in "the minors" which didn't help. Then he returned to ND, got a little PT and still wasn't good enough.
I've never heard of an athlete leaving ND "to work on his game" and then coming back. If his name had been Pat Dillingham would he have been able to "take time off" and return to UND?
At Div 1aa Montana, Nate appears to be 2nd or 3rd string from the stats. He's got 1 rush for 6 yds, passing he's 16-27 for 199 yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Johnson has 186 passing attempts so I assume he's the starter and Kemp has thrown 11 passes. Johnson and Kemp have played in all 7 games while Nate has played in 5.
When Joe was a freshman he was buried at 7th on the depth chart. When he got on the field he was hot and cold. When he was hot there were none better when he was cold, it was stone cold. Despite the great finishes he had he was a career 52% passer. His inconsistency drove Devine nuts. It was until Joe got to SF that he "found" consistency. His own career should have shown him when you get on the field you to perform to stay there. You have to beat the other guys out. Nate didn't. And unlike Joe's era the NCAA only allows 20 hours of practice time a week. The 5th or 6 string guy (see Mulvey) doesn't get to take Second Team snaps in practice, much less First Team Game Time.
The only reason Nate was on the team is bacause of his dad. I dont care what Joe thinks, he is a douche and I dont like him

LMFAO!!! BWAHAHAHA!!!!
That is the funniest thing I've ever read.
Poor old Joe is mad at ND for his kid sucking? Nice...really classy.
The kid was always terrible...I was scared anytime he was anywhere near the field...then he goes in against Michigan and proved just how bad he was and why he didn't deserve to see the field.
This isn't the first time Joe has said something stupid about ND...he tends to do it a lot.I'm glad I'm not one of the people that like him, because honestly he didn't do much at ND.
As far as former players being coaches, I would love to see Golic help out in some form...I just love that guy!
Definitely didn't read anywhere that he complained about his son's playing time. I'm starting to get the feeling that as a player, I wouldn't like Kelly.
Well, I live in Montana and have a relative coaching at Montana. First, Nate Montana is third string. Second, Nate Montana was charged with DUI on his second day on campus. Third, Nate Montana, from what I hear from kids from my town at UM, is an entitled, self-important little pric*.I don't know the details Joe doesn't want to discuss but his son was a walk-on. A walk-on who left school to get some playing time in "the minors" which didn't help. Then he returned to ND, got a little PT and still wasn't good enough.

Sorry it didn't work out.
Let's just say Nate Montana wasn't exactly a great representative of the University of Notre Dame. I have nothing against him being a walk-on because of his dad, he was a legend. But he had an absolutely atrocious attitude, was cocky, and a spoiled brat. And yes, this is from personal interaction.
