'12 FL DB Brian Poole (Florida Signed LOI)

Included on that list is standout cornerback Brian Poole of Southeast High in Bradenton, Fla. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Poole, a four-star prospect, is committed to Florida.

"As far as I know he is (still committed)," Southeast coach Paul Maechtle said Tuesday.

Poole a few weeks ago went to Maechtle and asked him to contact certain schools about setting up official visits. Some had filled up their slots at cornerback. Notre Dame took the call.

"I really don't know the answer (why he is visiting) other than the fact that they may need a corner that can play early and maybe he sees that as a way," Maechtle said.

Notre Dame has commitments from two cornerbacks -- Tee Shepard and Ronald Darby. Shepard also can play safety, while there have been recent rumblings about Darby visiting Maryland.

wheres theres smoke.

Would our defensive back class be better than last year's defensive line class if we had the #1,#2, and #3 rated cornerbacks on Scout?

I believe that Tee, Darby and Poole are top ten corners by most, if not all, of the scouting services. Last year, I think Lynch, Tuitt, and Ishaq were top ten DLs by most, if not all, of the scouting serviecs. So, it is probably pretty even.

Unless of course we pull the rabbit out of the hat and land Shaq Thompson.

Last years front 7 recruiting general was just ridiculous though when you add in Councell and Niklas and guys like Hounshell, Grace, Rabasa and Springman are thrown into the equation. Before he leaves South Bend, Rabasa is going to be a big time playmaker at some point, most likely inside.

Possible replacement for Teo, when he moves on?

Didn't realize that Peter Warrick is the WR coach at his high school (Warrick's former school as well). UF fans seem to think that if Warrick can't flip Poole to FSU then ND sure as hell can't flip him to ND.

This all seems logical except that Wiltfong has apparently seen some smoke too :)

UF fans want to bargain, let us have Agholor and they keep Poole because they believe they are getting Diggs.

I would be all for that and put all the Poole effort into getting the even better Tracy Howard.

This would be an insane steal and addition to this class.

GB, if we don't get Shaq but we get Brian, what do you think the movements amongst the DBs are (if there are any)?

I've said this many times on here already, selling Mom is HUGE. We all know the stories.

Tee to FS seems the most logical considering he is 6'1" but we need him to step in at CB and possibly start next year. Maybe he'll move down the road.

Agreed. Tee might play CB as a freshman he can have an immediate impact but I think the would move to safety in the future allowing Poole and Darby to be CB and CJ and Tee at safety (saying they can beat out eveyone else).

Tee's speed while not bad is a lot better suited for S. I dont want to see George Farmer running right by him in 2-3 Years. If he can tackle well enough he could be a awesome safety.

Tee's a big, physical DB and an excellent tackler. He's also a ballhawk, so he could end up with a ton of interceptions in Diaco's Cover 2 as a FS.

While I enjoy the optimism, I don't think we should count this chicken before it hatches. Lots of good signs, but I feel like we should get excited if he commits.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd LOVE to have Poole on board.
