This was a comment on the article.

"If you read Phil Kornblut's blurbs on Chris Brown for the last few months, it seems that Chris was happy to play for the *****, but his father was very much pushing him to go out of state. Whatever reason, I wish him the best - rather see him at Notre Dame than at a rival SEC school or Clemson. Part of me wonders if he may not still one day wear the garnet and black - as a transfer. Likely wishful thinking. "

Chris Brown Shuns South Carolina | Recruiting

Found this article on Chris! This article states the complete opposite of what you guys have been saying about his father!

This article is a few weeks old and was written when he first committed.

I don't love that he's still looking at other schools, but that's recruiting for ya. All we can do is play well and stay on him and I have faith that we will do both. I still think he's Irish in the end.

This is what his father wrote on Chris's Highlight Film online.....

You guys need to chill out and focus on more important issues! The reference made towards a "hand shake" is ridiculous.....a verbal commitment is a handshake...... Does it mean that your word has changed or anything other that what it's being compared to? I am disappointed in most of you guys......I expected more from the fan base! Go Irish ....(The Real Ones!!!)

HRC08..........You are absolutely correct....I can see how blogs cause recruits to de-commit! The decision will be His but as parents we must ensure that we arm our kids with all the information needed in order to make the best decisions in life. I personally will not catch another pass, line up for a long or triple jump event, or be what we call a student athlete ever again....unless I want to seriously break something again in my lifetime

With each week, it seems like three-star Hanahan (S.C.) receiver Chris Brown’s commitment to Notre Dame grows increasingly flimsier.

Last week, Brown’s father, Joe, came out and said he wants his son to play at South Carolina and isn’t ready to accept his son’s commitment to the Fighting Irish.

It looks like Joe was able to get into the head a little bit of Chris over the past few days, as Chris now says he is strongly considering the Gamecocks still, according to a report in The Post and Courier (Charleston, S.C.).

"I'm going to stay open," Brown told The Post and Courier. "It (the commitment) is not set in stone. I just felt comfortable making the commitment. But if an opportunity comes along and I feel I need to go elsewhere, I will."

Although the Irish are still the team to beat, the news of Brown wavering isn’t good as the Notre Dame staff won’t be able to get Brown back on campus. Brown committed to Notre Dame following his official visit back in September for the Michigan State game. Any visit to South Bend would have to be on his family’s dime, and it doesn’t sound like his father would be in any hurry to fly his son back up for a visit.

According to The Post and Courier report, Brown will visit South Carolina on Nov. 12 for its game against Florida, a game which will likely have serious implications for the SEC East title. And since Steve Spurrier became coach at South Carolina, the game against the Gators has always been one of the biggest of the year for the Gamecocks and their fans anyway, so Williams-Brice Stadium will likely be rocking that afternoon, too.

The Gamecocks’ final three games are all at home, beginning with the Florida game, so Brown will have two more opportunities to visit for games, too.

Could not agree more with Riddickulous... I think it is sad any time a recruit commits and the parents are unaware or against it. I am not saying that it should or will never happen again. But it reflects poorly on both the recruit and his parents if conflicting information comes out with a week of the verbal. just my 2 cents...

Serious talk......has anyone of you guys every been recruited to play a sport at a major university? It doesn't seem that way......Did anyone ever stop to think about the fact that most conflicting articles are coming from inside the state (SC).

Please put something like this in the

Is this kid serious with these comments? Just pull his offer already

I don't know Chris or his family, but I hope Chris does what is best for him and I'm sure that his family will ultimately support that. I think Notre Dame presents opportunities, on and off the football field, that are truly unique.

South Carolina is a fine school and I understand why the young man and/or his family would be interested in the idea of playing close to home. But to me, there is no other school out there that compares to what Notre Dame can offer in terms of big-time football and preparing young men for their life after football.

When I see recruiting stories like those of Will Mahone, Jarron Jones, Aaron Lynch and Stephon Tuitt - just to name a few - I always wonder how anybody that is given the opportunity to go to ND and play football could turn that down. Ultimately, every kid (and their families) have to do what is best for THEM, and they all have their own priorities.

Chris is clearly interested in what ND has to offer, and I honestly hope he sticks with his commitment - as much for him as for us. I hope his parents give ND a fair look, too. If they do I think they may really like what they see.

Understood and I know the family better than anyone on this thread and Chris will be coming to Notre Dame. I can imagine how tough it must be for them to allow Chris to travel so far away. They have always supported him and his decision to attend ND......In fact prior to Chris actually commiting he called and had to explain to his father why! At that time a conference call was made with both Chris and both parents....they both were excited, so he convinced both of them that ND was the place he wanted to attend. Like I said, I personally know the family and they read the negative comments made by you all. So let's chalk this one up as a dead issue because they have......the only thing that they are worrying about is if Chris could keep his high school number at ND! Lol

That sounds good. Hope he gets his number then. I also hope that Chris and his family don't put any real stock in this or any other message board. I wish I had his options.

If we keep him, cool. I like his tape.

If not, eh.

I think I'm with you here. Though, I would like to hear HIM (the kid) let everyone know where he stands before I completely write him off. I just don't want to miss the boat on a more "sure-fire" recruit because Chris waited until Nov/Dec to de-commit...

Pot calling the kettle black?

What are you talking about- he has almost twice as many posts! Hardly a rookie. ;0)

I wasn't talking about the number of quotes but only the idea that Chris's dad wants him to go to USC. Has anyone realized that maybe the majority of papers that mention anything hinting to that effect are from SC? What program wouldn't want in state athletes first and foremost! The way the Family explained it to me was the fact that their son has the ability to attend any school in the country....we only focus on FB on this site but his track offers are incredible. I have read several post that state his parents are not thinking about the educational factor of choosing ND but like I stated earlier.......the kid has offers from Stanford and Harvard for track, but they feel that ND gives him the best of both worlds.....enough said because all of that doesn't make a difference to you..... Live your life and enjoy your day. It just amazes me how some of my ND Brothers and Sisters are not as smart as I thought. I figured we were better than that!

The bottom line for me is that I really hope we keep this kid. He has size and speed and he will fit in nicely. I think in the long term a degree from Notre Dame will open many more doors for him long after his playing days are over.
