’11 CA WR George Farmer (USC Verbal)

Quoting as not to totally derail, but doesn't the possibility of his playing in this capacity as a form of misinformation make sense? Make Cal prepare for a lot of backfield motion that isn't going to come game-day as they preserve his redshirt.

Maybe I'm giving Kiffy & Co. too much credit.

Hey, what the hell, we gave them something more to think about and prepare for w Hendrix playing. This could be leaked to give our coaches something more to prepare for. If he doesn't play this week against Cal, and instead, made his debut in 2 weeks, he'd be in for an abbreviated season to be sure. You know what they say in Uckem. F***em.

Always loved that pic of Kiffy losing to a timeout.

My thoughts as well, however we're not bluffing and they will have a tougher time justifying burning a year of eligibility for us than a week earlier at Cal (moderately).

Either way; advantage Irish.

Will run a lot of wheel routes, screens, swing passes, and motion out of backfield.

I could see this causing potential match up problems.

@NDinLA I read on 247 that they are still planning to redshirt him this year because he has not had enough practice/reps at RB yet and they don't want to burn a year for 3/4 of a season. Are you hearing differently?

Haven't had time to check today, but as of this weekend, on Rivals they were saying that he could actually play this year...

I have no idea what to make of this. Maybe USC has just given up completely on running the ball? If you're George Farmer, wtf is going through your head right now? What if you're Amir Carlisle?

This should be a warning to all potential recruits thinking of playing for a moronic loose cannon like Kiffin. As I said many posts earlier, I have zero doubt he promised a guy like Farmer that he would be playing from Day 1. Maybe this is because Kiffin can't get him on the field as a WR and he doesn't want to redshirt.....

*shrug*

Dayne Crist was a 5* guy............. just sayin'.........

It's funny because the part you had to intentionally crop out of a post from 10 months ago alludes to just that. Just sayin'.....

It was Farmer and his dad that brought up the idea about RB, not Kiffin.

To clarify, that's exactly what I assumed. See last sentence: "Maybe this is because Kiffin can't get him on the field as a WR and he doesn't want to redshirt....."

The he is Farmer... the bottom line is no #1 recruit wants to redshirt, I'm sure he was told he'd be playing from day 1, and then he was basically put in the awkward position of:

1. Redshirt.
2. Transfer and sit out a year anyways.
3. Switch positions to see the field.

Of those three options, I'd attempt to switch positions if I was in his shoes too. Why any skill position player (read: NELSON AGHOLOR) would want to go play for Kiffin is beyond me. Look at all of the 4:s: and 5:s: players that are completely busting under his tutelage. Unless Nelson Wants to play safety, he'd be crazy to head out west. The USC house of cards is starting to crumble. Hopefully a win next week can bring it all the way down.

Only thing is, Farmer played both RB and WR so it is not exactly switching positions. He was featured many times toting the ball for Serra. He is in an awkward position where he would have to beat out his best friend at Split End so I think the best alternative would be to switch to a hybrid running back even though he is more natural at WR.

Watching Serra last year, I always though Lee was the better WR of the two. Farmer is no doubt a great talent but does not run great routes and drops passes. I think the move is actually a benefit to Farmer even though he runs pretty upright.

I would expect Dillon Baxter to be the first one to transfer out. He has more of a Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles feel and I don't think that is what he had in mind, being an every third down back.

Interesting story on Amir, when Byron Marshall and his dad were out here for their unofficial they drove down to Purdue to visit Amir's dad who is the new strength an conditing coach there ( was with the Niners). Their families are really close apparently and Amir's dad was telling the Marshalls how he was devastated when Amir picked USC and not ND.

Interesting story. To be honest, I was shocked myself when he did. He had ND written all over him with his faith and desire to do business... but then he got sold on being an actor. Have to say if that's his dream then LA is better than South Bend and you have to respect the decision. I was so bummed out though. I loved Amir's film and attitude. Hopefully Byron makes a different decision.

Do these kids not have any adult guidance in their lives? No child of mine would be permitted to spurn the #1 undergrad business school in the country because he wants to move to LA and try to make it as an actor. Pure idiocy.

On the flip side, if that's his dream... I'd say go for it. Then again, I'm not a parent. But if my kid wanted to go to Alabama for "academics" it'd be a different story, but USC does have a very good business program as well (although fall short of what Kiffin told him... which that it was "#1") so it's a very hedged bet at worst.

ND is #1. USC is #34.

Do recruits not know about the internet? That they can independently verify the bullsh!t these coaches spout at them? Am I using too many rhetorical questions?

Pet peeve of mine. Do some research, idiots. It's only the most important decision of your young lives.

Irony or intentional with a Will Ferrell clip? Love Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, but have to hate "more cowbell" for a week. Trojan.

Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they all see the field.

They won't. Morgan is in the doghouse b/c of fumbles, Amir is hurt, Baxter MIGHT get in on a play or two, but he only has 9 carries all year, and there are only carries for MAYBE Moody or Farmer, but definitely not both. It's been all Tyler with a change-up of Moody for speed. You'll see at most 3 RBs unless someone gets hurt or it's a blowout...

He is talented but is a horrible blocker and does not run downfield. Too much dancing in the backfield, which was Tyler's problem in his early college career. He is more of an open space runner as opposed to in between the blocks. If they were smart they should play him like bush in open space where he excels. I see him transferring out anyways.
