It's not just about Marshall or just about Mahone, it's about both of them coming together and providing a deadly duo.

It would be absolute killer if both came aboard.

Exactly. This is not an either/or proposition. I would love to have both of them.

Deadly Duo with the existing young guns I think it would literally be a pick your poison type of offense.

They are smart enough to understand that as well. In today's game, you need two backs because guys are so much bigger and faster. Look at Lynch for example, just having him hit you on almost every play can have an effect.

Doesn't bother me one bit: (1) USC's coach is incompetent, and in danger of getting fired; (2) USC is one of the few schools where early PT is an unrealistic expectation for Marshall; and (3) USC's OL is weak this year.

Our running game looks significantly better than USC's right now. USC has 569 yards rushing at 4.3 YPC for 2 TD; ND has 611 yards at 4.9 YPC and 5 TDs.

ND compares very favorably to USC for RBs-- better coaching, more stable program, no sanctions, more productive running game, and a more attractive depth chart.

Keith Marshall plays it smart - ESPN

Marshall said he will take an official visit to Notre Dame on Oct. 22 and that he's undeterred by the Irish's 2-2 start or the criticism of coach Brian Kelly's intense berating of players on the sideline earlier this season. That intensity might actually be a positive for Marshall.

"That shows you he coaches with emotion and he really loves the game," Marshall said. "That's not a big deal. Of course you don't want someone screaming at you but that's going to make me play better because of my personality."

The Bulldogs are certainly the most intriguing team in his recruitment. Many have suggested the 5-foot-10, 180-pound tailback would be a perfect complement alongside standout Bulldogs freshman Isaiah Crowell, who has a more powerful running style.

Crowell, however, won't be nearly as much of a factor in Marshall's recruitment as Georgia coach Mark Richt, who is thought to be on shaky ground in Athens.

"I've wanted to play for Georgia since I was a little kid," Marshall said. "I really like Coach Richt but I want to see what's going to be there. I know right now there is some real uncertainty. He's a real good guy so I want him to keep his job and everything. That would definitely play a part in my decision."

Marshall will participate in the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 5 in St. Petersburg, Fla., along with plenty of friends, namely defensive back Ronald Darby from Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac, athlete Todd Gurley from Tarboro (N.C.) High School and offensive lineman John Theus from Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles.

The Gurley relationship is interesting because it could affect Marshall's college decision. The two were planning an official visit to Virginia Tech before Gurley had to cancel.

"I wanted to go," Marshall said. "If Todd goes, I'm definitely going to go. My parents can't go with me so I'm not going to go alone. I definitely want to look at them."

Got to love the media STILL ragging on Kelly for yelling. And it hasn't happened since. Don't want to be yelled at? Catch punts, don't let the ball hit you in the helmet, and don't fumble on the one yard line.

I think a lot of the same people ragging on BK for that would be just as up in arms if he did not seem upset by the events that caused them and seemingly let them slide.

Would argue either side of a point just for argument's sake.

I much prefer people who have a legitimate, honest opinion and can articulate it. It's ok NOT to have an opinion (and/or voice it) on something occasionally.

Found this article that was written after Keith's UGA visit:

All is not Turmoil in Athens for Bulldogs - BeyondU Sports

Coach Richt and the staff told me they definitely need me and Todd (Gurley). It is not a package deal or anything, they just need us both. They need running backs really bad because really all they have is Isaiah Crowell. They have no depth, and they need someone who can come in and play right away. Seeing Georgia go 0-2 has no effect on me at all. I spoke to the coaching staff and Greg McGarity, and they seem all on board with Coach Richt. Based on my conversation with players, coaches and the athletic director, they all support him. He needs to win, but I think the media is overplaying the Coach Richt is on the hot seat thing. I had breakfast with Greg McGarity, and he was telling us how they try to run the program the right way,” Marshall said. Georgia would rather do the right thing and keep it clean, even if that means sacrificing a few wins. Some other schools would do anything to win, but McGarity wants Georgia to be known for developing character.
