This is what some B1G posters are saying on the main board over at 24/7:
I know we're going to be revisiting this issue a few more times in the next year or two. Unless ND decides to remain independent indefinitely, the BIG needs to make sure that if they ever do join a football Conference they join us.
It has been my belief for some time that Notre Dame is afraid to join the B1G due to the competition level. Not to mention their TV contract.
While Notre Dame would be a logical add to the B1G, I just don't see it happening. They think of themselves as an east coast school stuck here in Indiana. They would probably prefer to go to the ACC so they would at least have a shot at making a BCS game. In the B1G, I think they would end up having a tough time making because of the quality of the teams and the rivalries are more intense.
I think there was an article in the Chicago Tribune last year that cited a study which concluded that Notre Dame's per share revenue as a Big Ten member would exceed its revenue from NBC. Then again, it might not just be about revenue alone for the Domers. They're so hung up on their self-image of being a "national" school with being an independent in football (which is absolutely ridiculous).
