I know Mahone's reply to Boom was already posted, but I love Perkins working on recruits. #swagg

That middle tweet gave me a headache.

Not news at all... but getting to see all the recruits up close at this week's game William Mahone has the most serious "I mean business" face I have ever seen on a ~17 year old kid. It was intimidating from like 20 rows up.

I know the bad ***-ness of someone's game face is not exactly a measurable... but damn do I want this kid running between the tackles and punishing people.

Wow....I like a kid to have the IT...and a "i am going to kick your ***" look is a good thing.

Did he look like he was having fun?

Not really sure I only really paid attention to the recruits when they were leaving the field at halftime and after the game. I did catch Darby smiling pretty big and it looked like just about everyone was having a good time but I can't comment specifically on Mahone. I *think* his mom was with him too (but I'm not really sure because I have no idea what his mom looks like).

But yeah... very physically imposing from 20 rows up for someone who is 5'11".

Mahone was wearing a black sweatshirt if I remember correctly. He wasn't standing on the field pregame with the rest of the ND recruits from what I saw or he went up early.

Jared Shanker of ESPN:

"Plus, four-star Austintown-Fitch (Ohio) running back William Mahone thoroughly enjoyed his visit in South Bend, liking it so much he plans on going back on his own dime for an unofficial visit Oct. 22 for the Irish's annual rivalry game against USC. It seems like a school would really have to make an impression on Mahone to steal him from the Irish at this point."

I'm not doubting anyone here, I'm just curious: what would be the point of a silent verbal? I don't get the advantage that has over just verballing or not verballing. Why would a player or program want to keep it silent?

There is no way to know if he is a silent. That said, ND is in a great position with Mahone.

Does he plan on taking further OVs? If I knew where I wanted to go, but still wanted to take OVs, I would verbal silently so the other schools feel like they're getting a fair shake.

I guess, but guys that have verbally verballed (audibly verballed...what would be the opposite of silently verballed?) still go on OVs. Doesn't seem like it provides a huge benefit. If guys really do give secret verbals (and we really have no way of knowing), there must be a reason. Maybe you're right as to why. It is better than anything else I can come up with.

Since we're all providing theories, maybe someone silent verbals so that if someone who they think is better than them or rated higher at the same position also verbals to that same team, then the first player can go elsewhere.

For instance, if Mahone wants to go to ND as long as K Marshall doesn't, it would make sense, no?
