Does Kelly let them thinking if we lose a few games down the stretch, we lose a few commits and if we win all then we have 5th year player we can jettison?

Just wondering how many spots we have if we take zero 5th years.

I know that stars can meaning nothing at all butwe need to start trying to lock up some of the higher star guys. We have alot of 3 stars guys not saying they aren't any good bu we need game changers.

The star rating is based on where the commit is NOW...not where he will be at the end of his Senior year. Also, a 3 star can develop into a 5 star after he goes to college. THAT is the big reason teams like Boise State do so well...they recruit excellent kids that project later after some maturity.

The guys who have verballed so far are terrific --- no qualms about them not being play-makers [Ex. Shephard, Darby, Brown, Greenberry, Ferguson, Jones, Day, Okwara, ... Lord, what would we want, the list can go on --- Perkins, both OLs , all the other DBs including a real ringer in Baratti]. The Rivals or ESPN [I forget which] had us as top five in the country on average stars per verbal.

When we add two really good RBs and two really good OLs, this bunch will look like last year's mayhem makers mark two. Then we'll have two [or so] positions left to pick off a few studs at the end. [I'm betting that we keep Cave, KLM, Slaughter, Cwynar, and although some will wince, Crist if he wants to come back --- that's five].

I mostly agree OMM, except for about Crist (I forgot about Cwynar as well earlier).

I have seen a few small hints that Kelly has a soft spot in him for players who've gone to war for the team and given what they had. That is the only reason that i say this about Dayne. Coach is not the complete hard-a$$ that we think he is, but I DO hope that assuming Dayne stays on the bench this year, the two of them have a heart-to-heart and Dayne agrees to transfer a la Wenger and Paskorz.

It is really hard NOT to like Dayne Crist. Everyone, even Coach, is human.

Of course all that changes dramatically if Dayne gets back on the field this season and does well.
