i am just thinking that the pressure of "the last spot" might make a kid lock up a spot on a team and then still listen to the other recuiters out there. then decommit hopefully not though

Hell no! If some posters remember, I had my own idea of how to do the recruiting process, even though I would obviously commit to Notre Dame. Be a silent commit from when I first get the scholarship offer, then pretend I have no interest in ND. Do all the visits and crap, then on NSD, chooses between Michigan and USC. I would throw both hats in the garbage on live tv, then whip out a ND hat.

sounds like a RKG to me

I think they're being very up front with him. They like him, want him, but do have other options. He's not the only game in town. Yes, there's some pressure but life is full of it. College graduates are learning the harsh realities of the job market and time pressure. HS seniors who waited to make a college choice are now scrambling in some cases for any choice.

It's early May despite the accelerated recruting season's there's still 9 months till NSD. If this was mid- January time would be of the essence. It's not, it's early May. Austin
plans a summer decision after he visits Stanford. If he waits until the season starts and choses elsewhere there's still 5 months to fill available slots. Undoubtedly, there are players out there that will gain the spotlight their senior season to swell the ranks.

Actually this is a different tact than Weis employed. I can think of a couple of kickers he essentially gave ultimatums to force an early decision and they both chose elsewhere. On the other hand Weis offered relatively few scholarships and when he waited late for the blue chippers to decide he frequently had to scramble late.

I hate the term RKG. Its kinda like calling someone a hater. Its the only possible responce when someone questions a move.

Example:
Person A: why is Kelly offering this guy, he doesnt have any offers from BCS schools

Person B: he's an RKG

on the flip side

Person B: Ben Koyack is gonna be a five star look at his offer list

i know its off topic but its turning into another Omar for me

Grammar Time: "tact" is a noun denoting sensitivity and adroitness in dealing with others or with difficult situations. "Tack," which is what I infer is truly meant by the comment (by context) is a noun denoting a change or adjustment in direction while sailing.

On examination, though, I suppose that Kelly is approaching his job with both a different tack and a different tact than Weis.

Yep, I can be a pick-ass putz.

Well this sucks. Who do we try to get now? Jordan Walsh?

On a side note, my source is jealous of our OL recruits. Plus he got me 4 double jager bomb shots. The room is spinning right now. Go Irish!

Mike Frank from ISD says that in truth ND let him go, because they are looking for a RT after all the commits. Brey Cook is one name being mentioned across the ND boards...

No worries here. He is a very good prospect, but we could really use more of a RT/power guard with our last spot, and we look good with a few of those. He chose a great school to go to and I wish him the best, other than when he plays ND of course.
