This must be because of the Ianello connection. Hopefully those TBAs get filled with schools of higher caliber, because Purdue, Akron, Navy, Wake, and Syracuse? Take out Navy for obvious reasons but the rest are poor football programs. Let's get an SEC school.

I am okay with that schedule... would be nice to have a "off" year. To most schools this would be a tough schedule for them

Good. We need to weaken up the schedule to ever compete. Still have Michigan, Texas, and USC for tough games as well. Solid schedule.

It is in 2015 so maybe some of these teams will be a lot better. Who would have thought Stanford would be good 4 years ago?

I like it, although it makes a lot less sense if we cannot open the season with them. We need to push the filler up to the front of the schedule so we can avoid derailing our season while we're working out the kinks.

I'm glad Brian Kelly hasn't recently criticized Ohio State for scheduling Akron. Oh wait...

“We’ve made so many mistakes against two pretty tough teams coming out,” Kelly told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Again, as you see the schedule, Ohio State is playing Toledo. I mean, teams are playing easy games early on in the schedule. We don’t get that luxury. We have to go play in front of 115,000 [at Michigan Stadium]. Those mistakes are more glaring against opponents that are physically pretty good, as well.

Doesn't seem as much like criticism as jealousy to me. I'm sure he wishes he had opened with Toledo rather than a team that very well may end up playing in a BCS game.

I would like to see Alabama or Tennessee again around that time. If Kelly is everything we believe him to be, this would be good timing for the Irish to make a mark in the SEC.

I completely agree with you.I'd love to see us schedule Tennessee again, that was a fun rivalry.
I love this matchup with Akron...Nothing is a guaranteed win,but we do need to lessen the SOS and scheduling a MAC team definitely does that, and it helps us even more in the Ohio market.

AS long as we stay independent we need to scheduke harder teams.

This schedule will be null and void once Super Conferences take over... It'll never happen. Just one man's opinion.

One thing I've always appreciated about ND is how the schedule when broken apart piece by piece may not be the toughest, but put together is a one hell of a gauntlet. We have to face a variety of very capable teams who are out to play their hardest against us because we are ND.

Note: When I say variety, think of all the types of offense our defense has to plan to stop throughout the year.

Agree but 1 easy early ( first) game is a must. Everyone does it and wait till next year when you see that schedule. In my opinion some of the great teams do themselves no justice by what they do early. You watch somebody get smoked because they played too easy too early. Week 3 surprises for some of these schools. Boise has the country by the balls. Fla State did it for years after Bowden built his program.

Making the schedule weaker? Weak sauce.

+1 that is one of the things ND fans can always be proud of. We may not be the best team each year but we always have had a schedule to be proud of. We've been waiting for the coach that can take us through our schedule which will prove we are #1 and then win a championship. We think we have that coach and we lighten the schedule up? What the heck?

I don't want to see the schedule get substantially weaker, but I like the idea of playing one MAC team a year - like everyone has said - to start the season. I really liked the civic-ness of playing Western Michigan. Having grown up in South Bend and knowing A LOT of people that went to both ND and Western, it was a neat thing for me.

I'd like to see a rotation of Western, Toledo and Ball State every three years. It would be a nice thing to help out the MAC schools, and they are all close geographically, and of course, lightens up the schedule a bit.

God, I hate reading about how "we need to soften the schedule to ever compete" or, "other teams are doing it". If that's what people want then we should just join a damn conferance and be done with it. I have no desire to see them schedule Akron, or Syracuse for that matter.

geez guys... count the numbers. None of those are a twelve game list except 2013. Where are these schedules coming from?? What's the factual basis??
