Ummm NDOM might be laughing all the way to the bank. We opened as 3.5 favorites and now it is up to 5.

I. Don't. Get. It.

WTF!!!!

That's doubly ridiculous with us being 0-2 and the pre-season Vegas line for this game being ND -3. I thought we would for sure be underdogs and have a reasonable chance to make some money...

So far this team has made Vegas look stupid. I want to be positive however Mich state will be the best team we have played out of the first 3 games.I would have though the team would have come out played almost perfect and they didn't after week one. So I think we still make stupid mistakes and our Secondary really gets tested. Mich state 28- Nd 20

Ticket dilemma for this weekend...(skip the next paragraph for the background if its to much to read)

I am going to the game with my dad and after nearly getting scammed out of $500 I thought I had 4 tickets so I invited my two cousins. One is in for sure now but the other may not be able to make it. Haven't seen them both in awhile so I'm trying to set this up and get 3-4 seats together. I couldn't pass up a pair being sold locally Section 6 row 8. Now my cousin that was a lock does not want to go if we can't sit together.

Cliffs...looking for 3 seats together...possibly 4. Already have two tickets side by side. Section 6 row 8 that I will be selling if I can get at least 3 seats together. If anyone has a way to help me out or would be interested in 2 tickets , pm me.

Thanks

how on God's green earth are we favorites?

I believe it's some hybrid fanatical USC/Michigan fan who's life work as a linemaker is to create false hope and belief by "rationalizing" that ND is a better team than the performance indicates, only to see us lose in catastrophic fashion, resulting in hundreds of massive heart attacks weekly to the 30 and 40 year olds of ND Nation.

At the current pace, they will have eradicated the entire Irish fanbase by 2021.

(ND 35 MSU 21) ;)

you've missed a lot of what's been going on between me and the D Bag i quoted...sorry buddy...to make a long story short i really don't like him.

Nothing has been 'going on' between you two. He's a Michigan fan and you're throwing a tantrum about his very existence. We're not in third grade. Stop derailing threads.

ND 27, MSU 24.

For those coming to Sat.'s #NotreDame-Michigan St. game, here's weather & betting info: Mostly sunny, high 68, low 45. ND is a 5-pt fave.

ND is a 5-pt fave.

That is a little surprising. But I can see their point of view. ND being PO'd after the bad start, it's at home and State not having played anyone but the mighty Youngstown State Penguins and FAU Owls.......you could get fat from all those cupcakes.

Check out Football Outsiders' 2011 preview of Michigan State.

They lost 3 starters on the OL, and several all-conference players from their front seven. We should win in the trenches... yet again. I used to think that meant something.

State's a dangerous opponent. They look much better on paper than either USF or UM.

I hope our lack of a pass rush over the last two games was a schematic side-effect of having to contain some very athletic quarterbacks. Here's hoping our supposedly improved pass rush can take advantage of a rebuilding OL and a more traditional pro-style QB.

Can we not be underdogs for once? lol

Note: I don't think I'm going to bet this week. The only ND games I've ever bet on we've lost.

Hey guys...Spartan fan and new to the board - looking for some game day advice since the wife and I are heading down Saturday.

From MSU perspective....we are pretty worried about Floyd (who isn't?). Our secondary is talented but still untested. Johnny Adams is a very good shut down corner and will hopefully tie up Floyd a bit....Floyd I'm assuming will get his but with Adams we have a chance to limit. Our D-line is looking promising but really haven't had a chance to showcase yet with the soft schedule. Will Gholston is a beast at DE and Jerel Worthy will be playing on Sundays. On offense you know about Cousins....but where we can hurt defenses is the depth at WR/TE/RB. Go 2 deep easy in each position and on some 3 (RB). I'm hoping the run game can get rolling so the play action can start to work. Anyways....looking forward to Saturday and Go Green!

Welcome to the IE. Floyd's numbers for Saturday: 13 receptions 186 yards 3 TDs. ;)

Ha! I'll take that as long as MSU has 4 TD's total and we shut the rest of the offense down! Floyd is definitely a beast and it will be interesting how we decide to cover....I'm assuming a lot of safety help.

I really our defense matches up much better with more of a pro-style offense than the spread-types run by USF and, to an extent, Michigan (I know Michigan runs the pro, but let's face it. With Denard it becomes almost like an option or spread offense.) The D Line is very good, in my opinion, but doesn't have quite the speed needed to contain the fast QBs BJ Daniels and Robinson are. I think they'll do fine. How is your OLine? I heard you lost 3/5 starters this offseason? That could really help ND's D-Line control the line of scrimmage a little better.

I'm terrified of Cousins picking apart the secondary. Last week it looked like a bunch of high schoolers were trying to defend Denard's passes. It was embarrassing, frankly.

And lastly, there is no such thing as a shutdown corner when it comes to Mr. Floyd. He finds ways to get open and make catches.

Have fun in South Bend! This board is filled with people who know more about the campus than I do. I'll be there too, hopefully to see a victory?

We have been favored in all 3 games so far. What the heck are you talking about?

Yeah the OL is trying to gel right now. That was the biggest concern heading into fall and it probably still is. There will definitely be some growing pains and obviously ND is the best opponent we've played thus far.

Floyd will definitely get his....but if Rees still continues to throw into double/triple coverage like Saturday....I will guarantee you MSU's DB's won't be as bad as M's.

Really excited about this one....been looking to go to South Bend for sometime now.

Kelly moves Floyd all over the field. Adams won't be matched up against Floyd most of the time. I also see lots of unblooded sophomores in your secondary and LB corps-- Lewis, Dennard, Allen and Bullough. Our WRs are probably going to have a very big day against your Spartans... not that success in the passing game made much difference for us in the last couple weeks.

Our D-line is looking promising but really haven't had a chance to showcase yet with the soft schedule. Will Gholston is a beast at DE and Jerel Worthy will be playing on Sundays.

Your DL definitely looks to be the strength of your defense, but how did Youngstown State average 4.25 YPC against them? I think that shows how big the loss of Gordon and Jones is for your front seven. Our OL and RBs have put up big yards against two tough DLs already; I doubt we'll have trouble moving the ball on the ground against you.

On offense you know about Cousins....but where we can hurt defenses is the depth at WR/TE/RB. Go 2 deep easy in each position and on some 3 (RB). I'm hoping the run game can get rolling so the play action can start to work.

Cousins scares me. He's one of the best pure passers we'll face this season. If our secondary plays anything like it did against UM, we're in big trouble. That said, if your running game isn't firing on all cylinders, State is gonna struggle. How did you only manage 3.7 YPC against FIU? Our DL has dominated the point of attack against two good running teams already.

In all honesty, I say we throw it to Floyd on repeat and just let him truck the DBs.

We should have done that all game on Saturday

cousins will be looking to right himself after that INT in 2009 that ultimately lost them the game. ND secondary has to step it up big time. M.Floyd will be the key to victory for ND, IMO.
