“@Jake_Brown: Perkins with another rushing touchdown. This one a 27-yard sweep left. Pure speed to the outside. #NotreDame”

Has 2 TDs in the first quarter... an 85 yard run and 27 yard run. If he figured out how to run with a low pad level.... we just might have our "power back" depending on who else we land in this class.

I know we like him as an OLB but if we can get Odenigbo or Ekanem (because who knows whether Okwara will actually end up at DE) this could get really interesting.

If we land William Mahone, he'll stay at OLB.

Ultimately, it appears as if Perkins has more potential at OLB.

Perkins lined up to punt, had it blocked, then promptly picked it up and raced 97 yards to the endzone. However, it was called back.

This player has given me the number one "vibes" in this class, but not all the way from Mount Olympus!

Accroding to my eyes, he had one sack, a whole bunch of tackles, he hit the QB a bunch, and pressured the QB a bunch, the LT was holding him every other play but those sorry refs never called it. That penalty on the 97 yard blocked punt return was a terrible call. The ref called a block in the back but it was a perfectly legal block, it should'nt have been called. On his 85 yard TD run, he ran over 4 guys on his way to the endzone.

What a great kid. We are lucky to have him. The only thing that has disapointed me about Perk is that he cut off his sweet 80's step fade haircut. I hope he grows it back.

Perkins looked good last night and he explodes when he has the ball.

I completely agree, he should go back to the fade.

But seriously he is a very versitle player that will step up big time for us wether BK has him on offense or defense. i hope he plays rb tho bc i love his hard nosed approach to running the football.

It is refreshing to see some swag returning to the Golden Dome. For so long we have seen kids and coaches just kind of feeling their way through things in the off-season on a week to week basis during the season.
Right now their is a subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) sense of supreme confidence throughout the ranks of our coaches, the players, and the prospective recruits Coach Kelly is bringing in. Coach Kelly stresses time and again that he is recruiting just skill, big skill, and power position players who are passionate about the game of football. It seems to me that tied into that whole bit about being passionate about the game, he also likes guys who are good students and players but have a little bit of an edge to them...exactly what we need to move this program forward. Once he takes those guys and gets them into his system, with his organization, discipline, and course of development, including strength and conditioning, fundamentals, conducting themselves as fine representatives of Our Lady, and film study and game plans, the players confidence in themselves and in the staff to prepare them and put them in a position to succeed continues to grow exponentially.

How can anybody not be excited about the direction of this program knowing we may win 10 games and revisit the BCS this year, but even if we dont we sure will in the very near future.

Hopefully Mr. Perkins can step on campus and work his way into a leadership role on the team eventually and we can bring back the retro gumbies and flat tops, maybe with a few lines shaved in the eyebrows or side of the head...bad*ss.

i sat that perkins should be our power RB from this class, we can still bring in Byron or Keith, our depth at the OLB positons is pretty bsolid for a couple years now, so perkins might be stuck behind our depth for years, but he can come in at RB and contribute right away, and then George can move to WR

Mahone will hopefully be our power back.

I know but I think we just have Perkins be our power back, then instead of mahone we can get another corner, or a OLB that fits Kelly's description more

Since you brought it up, Perkins doesn't fit Kelly's RB profile either. He's simply a freak athlete, and such recruits typically end up on the defensive side of the ball (see: Darius Fleming, Prince Shembo, and Anthony Rabasa).

RB is priority #1 for this cycle, so the staff most likely wants two blue-chippers that are squarely within Kelly's profile. If they don't get them, for whatever reason, I have little doubt that Perkins will end up starting at RB. But just like with GA III this year, it's definitely not Plan A.

Whether he Reigns Cats or Dogs it's alright with me. Perkins is made for all-star defense. Talk about a combination of attitude and closing speed!! What a waste that explosive aggression at the attack point would be if relegated to offense. He's a lightning bolt of destructive force blurring all across the field. Diaco!! Fight Kelly for him!!

If only he were more fluid... would be a ridiculous safety with those measureables.
